'ow do :wavey:

erm...first, albeit pointless, things first.. i saw some nice alloy Porsche pedal replacement thingies on ebay at the weekend, anyone know where i can get a set that will actually turn up, and wont charge me twenty notes postage?

also, id like to replace my knob (don't, its too easy :) ) with a new Porsche item, anyone know of a good knob specialist/ breakers/ etc?

also, anyone know what the difference will be between the auto oil test when the car is cold to the result when its hot? or should there be none? currently id say theres an indicator bar or two between them, but I'm not sure which reading is the correct one.

thanks in advance, you lovely lovely people :creeping:

Hello mate. I see the "disease" has struck

For parts I suggest RUF - nice 'zorsts and pedals.

The oil gauge check varies hot and cold - hot it often reads lower. Check it once a day when you first start the car, then don't worry.

I assume sir is enjoying his new purchase

yeah about right, but you do get some weird readings sometimes so best to check when hot

hiya Soovy

I'm trying desperately not to gush about it, BUT...i abso-bloody-lutely love it. I'm simply staggered by how happy its made me. several people have commented on how shallow this must mean i am, but i figure, hey, at least I'm shallow with a Porsche.

in short, i love it. its more than i ever hoped. its everything Ive ever wanted. :beaminglikealoon:

thanks for all your help gang, you've turned a really awful year around. who knew that all it would take is a load of somebody elses money.

thanks for the advice on the oil good people, ill try keeping an eye on it and trying to work out what it means. im assuming that like grown up cars, a dipstick reading when hot (after enough time for the oil to filter back down eg five mins) will be the most accurate?

You can only accurately check the oil level of a dry sump engine, when its warm. Only just after it has run, can you be sure that all the oil is in the header tank.

Glad you're happy - these 911's are good at that!

Oil - you have to check the dipstick with the engine running (normal operating temperature) as this is a dry sump system. Or you certainly do with all the air cooled stuff...
