Hi everyone, we have a fabulous Q4 eTron that does everything we need, however I have always fancied a Porsche, and enjoy tinkering with cars - although I have no idea mechanically (an awful combination!) so I have purchased a project.. A 2011 Cayenne Diesel, with 90k miles.

I initially discarded it when looking due to the interior colour, however it grew on me, and after a while I came to the conclusion I fancied something other than black. I got a great deal on the price, which is handy as it has many issues - I hope none of which are too serious. Such as:

1. The power boot takes three attempts to open as it keeps stopping mid function. Reading online it sounds like maybe a gas strut has failed?

2. All front speakers don’t work, with only sound coming from the rear? Apparently the battery was replaced recently, perhaps this could be related?

3. The drivers side rear door rubber is ripped and needs replacing.

4. There is an occasional clonk when shifting down from 3rd to 2nd. It’s not too harsh, but noticeable. The gearbox oil has never been replaced.

5. The n/r door lock and window don’t work. You can only open it from the inside.

6. The alloys need pairing. Does anyone know the Spyder paint colour / code? I’ve read elsewhere it’s PORSCHE TITAN GREY MET EP8?

7. The rear quarter chrome is very pitted and damaged from cleaning chemicals. It’s the same on both sides, but all other areas are okay. Can these be replaced easily?

8. The auto handbrake button seems inoperative?

9. The chrome strip at the base of the boot seems to have water or corrosion behind?

I’ve leaned to like the interior, but feel the wood trim would look so much better in black or silver?

Spec wise I think it’s pretty basic, with no heated seats (I missed this!!!), no air suspension, no uprated sound. But it does have pan roof, nice wheels, power boot and power fold mirrors. Clearly I’m easily pleased!

Any advice on any of the above mentioned issues will be greatly appreciated. I will keep this thread live to document my progress - and journey / financial misery!
