Hi

My a/c stopped blowing cold last year. Garage diagnosed it as needing a new ac compressor. Had one fitted and nothing has changed. Blows air but warm or hot depending on heat outside when I hit Auto on Lo setting it immediately goes to max level and immediately auto cuts out and back to middle level. This stopped just after compressor was fitted but happening again now. Pure nightmare having paid nearly 1k and now referred to nissan for another diag next month. At a total loss. Any experience with this? Im not a mechanic but can test a few things if recommended. Ie fuses/relays filters etc. Actuator is unreachable for me behind dash i think

Did it ever work correctly after the compressor was replaced or has the issue always existed?

So when we picked it up and the compressor was fitted. We drove it home and continued to blow hot air. Only change was it stopped cutting out when we hit MAX button- at first. We took the car back and they washed their hands of it so only had it back 1 day. Today (only fitted 2 days ago) it remains exactly as before we had any work done. Hot air only and cuts out on max. Have lodged a complaint but will take forever. Can't even trust the original diagnosis was correct re: ac compressor. Must be another issue they never found but I'm at my wits end fighting it tbh

Is it a J11 Qashqai?
If so you need a new condenser.
The original condensers are crap.
The part has 5 suppersessions on it iirc.
The Nissan dealer will have replacement condensors in stock.

I work for a Nissan dealer in the parts deptartment. 99% of the time its a condenser.
We are doing at least 5 a week just now.

And the AC pipes that rub through and leak, although you would like to think the system held gas otherwise they wouldn't have fitted a compressor.

Wow
5 a week! Trouble is i cud have that installed and might still not work. Just have to wait for nissan to hopefully find an actual point of fault and then pay through the nose for it :-/

Only an idiot would change a compressor on a qashqai without checking it held pressure.

But there's also a lot of idiots who blindly rely on the vacuum leak check as a definitive leak check.....

Idiots is the word. Halfords absolutely useless and unhelpful. Small claims court if nissan tell me the compressor didn't need changing or the one they fitted was faulty and fitted incorrectly. Who knows. Nightmare

Now I see your problem.

You took your car to Halfords!

Do a bit of leg work and find a decent independent mechanic or aircon specialist.

Going to Nissan is almost as bad as going to Halfords for an older car.

Many of them will just throw expensive genuine parts at the car and charge way over the odds for labour. Fingers crossed the dealer you went to put someone competent on your car!
