Sorry if this has been asked before. I am looking at an A110 to use as a daily driver. I have seen one for sale at £35k with around 33,000 miles on it already.

I would be doing around 18,000miles per year with a mix of motorway and B roads.

I know that the A110 is a car that a lot of people keep for weekend or track use.

I was just wondering if there are any high mileage cars out there and what the residual values are like?

I would take that article with a pinch of salt to be honest.

I’ve had 2 A110’s over the past 5 1/2 years used daily and I haven’t experienced any significant issues and certainly no more than any other car of the type.

The cheapest A110 on Auto Trader is £31k. Its an 2019 car, with 42,000 miles on it, so 6 years old and cost around £47k when new. 35% depreciation after 6 years seems pretty good to me.

I'm doing around 18k a year is my S, no problems, rear tyres lasted 20k.

I try not to think too hard about residuals and just enjoy the car!

IIRC there's a PHer that's put 30-40k+ on an A110. Now I would say that excessive scaremongering about reliability isn't justified, but they still had a long list of (thankfully rectified) issues.

Thanks. Is there anything to look out for? any issues you’ve had or any parts you’ve had to replace?

My car will be three years old in September, currently on 27k miles, with no problems thus far. Make sure any car you look at has had the fuel pump relaced under a manufacturer's recall, possibly alternator also, but this wasn't universal. Check for bubbling paint (wheel arches and wing/bumper joint especially, but look all over). Wear to side bolsters on the Comfort seats. I can't think of anything else.

Difficult to find common ground with any article that lists a Toyota RAV4 as most the satisfying car. I will take an unreliable Alpine over one of those.

Not too sure about residuals in the UK, but I do know there was a 2019 (I think) A110 here in The Netherlands which had well over 200,000km on it and was offered for sale slightly over a year ago. At the time it was priced around 45k with the next cheapest ones hovering around the 55k mark with 50.000 to 70.000-ish km. Not sure what it sold for, though - but it did sell (or at least, it vanished from all listing sites). In any case, an A110 should be able to sustain your use case for years to come. Mine is now on 70.000-odd km, 10.000 of which are 'mine', and it has been a happy little thing so far.

Its basically a Renault - so should tolerate loads of miles - 40K here - no issues and all warranty / recall stuff done at service time. 4 years in on a 6 year old car I keep telling myself I need to move it on - then I get in it. All those thoughts disappear and I fully intend to drive it till the wheels fall off. Some impressive KM totals from some of the Euro input on here! Daily driver - lives outdoors and rarely washed..

Likewise: 33k miles on my 2020 Legende which I’ve owned from new and it still feels like new to me… it’s a joy every time I get in it.

Aside from two failed fuel pumps (a Japanese part!) it’s been absolutely flawless and I can’t imagine ever parting with it to be honest! I imagine residuals should hold up pretty well simply because of the rarity but I don’t really care. It’s a keeper.

I may have posted this before but a 3500 mile Euro trip back in Feb saw no problems whatsoever.

A 2 year old car.

Can't say the same for my new Land rover D3 which broke down every time we went to Europe.

Mine's a late 2019 car, I've owned it from new and now on ~42k miles. Quite a few track days, road trips etc. I wouldn't worry about the mileage, just enjoy it. Like any car, it will suffer from wear and tear on components like suspension etc over time and so for it to be at its best, that may benefit from a refresh. Other than that, check it's been serviced well. The upside is that issues are likely to have shown themselves and already been fixed.

Residuals-wise - the higher the mileage, the lower the cost per-mile wink - a car with double the mileage won't be half the money.

It had a rack under warranty, it developed a click, and dealer changed it.

I just over service the car, DIY oil change every 6k, I don't think the engine is stressed at 300hp but the oil filter is small and there's only just over 4 litres of oil in the engine. Also changed the gearbox oil at 18k rather than wait for 36k.
