Decent driving roads around Cheshire?

Have a look at how close north Wales is. Then look through some previous threads.
I'd definitely look at north Wales, it has some of the best driving roads in the UK, all well documented on PH and elsewhere. Derbyshire roads are crowded, poorly maintained and overrated; the Cat & Fiddle and Snake Pass especially. If I want an enjoyable drive (I live on the edge of the Peak District) I head out of the county.

Mortimer Road has been resurfaced last year, quite enjoyed its steep tight sections.
Good to know for when I am next up there. The Strines (as I knew it growing up) is a great road!
Have they fixed Beeley Moor and the road down from the gliding club at Abney yet?
Beeley still closed, works on-going. AFAIK Abney Gliding Club road up from The Plough is open despite the 'road closed' signs.
