Hi all. First post!
My yugo (yes, Yugo!) has just failed its mot because the driver's seat lift mechanism, which allows people to get into the back, doesn't lock itself in the down position....so in a crash , the seat would try to push me forward.
I've taken the seat out and can see the problem, but it seems to be beyond the scope of any tools I have. The recliner isn't right either but I can't see why for that.
I'm sure it/they would be an easy fix for somebody who knew what they were doing and had the right equipment, I've no idea where to go though, and seat specialists just seem to do upholstery (I think). Anyone any ideas please? MOT garage wasn't interested in the job either, so I don't think most standard back street garages would be either....
All a bit frustrating tbh.
Hope somebody can help. Thanks in advance.

Blacksmiths/ general fabricators if its a weld and bent metal issue.

Take them the frame off the seat….

My left field suggestion... try and play the mot game? For example, if you take the rear seats out, then you don't need access to them. Or, if the mechanism should work and it doesn't, then try and lock the seat in place. Lastly, if it's just the passenger side, take the seat out altogether, an mot tester can't fail what isn't there.

Like I said, left field suggestions...
