Anyone brave enough to pay what they're asking for the new ZF7 release?

I'm toying with it; I don't need my 13" M4 iPad Pro any more now I've got my MB; but still want a device that act as a tablet for eReading (Kindle, magazines etc) and to act as my business mobile too...

I might just save the hassle though and go for a Pixel 9 Pro Fold via eBay - had one before (not long enough) and missed it when I sold it on...

Decisions...

Fold or Flip?

Wife, myself and SIL have all had folding phones for probably five or more years now. I wouldn't go back and I renovate houses so they don't get a clean or easy life. No issues barring screen protectors across I think about nine phones between us.

Currently risking a Razor 60 Ultra without a case! Eek!

Surfboards are just annoying. Get a folder.

Sorry; Fold, deffo not Flip wink

It seems I can get an immaculate/as new and still in warranty P9PF for less than £750 - that sways it for me as my iPad Pro will sell for £900+ - stumping up c£1700 for ma phone makes me wobble a bit haha laugh

Yeah I'm giving it a go. I had one of the early ones, a 2 or a 3, and I really didn't get on with it. Too heavy, too clunky, generally less good all round.

But the F7 is about the same size and weight as my S25U so I'm going to see if it's any better this time round. Happy that they have upgraded the camera, less happy about losing the pen, but in reality I use that very infrequently.

The decision was bolstered by a bunch of promo codes, plus the trade-ins. I was going to swap in the S25 but they wouldn't take it, but what would they would take was a pair of 7" tablets for which I paid ~£250 each six years ago, and for which they credited me £400.

And then I noticed they are runing a 100 day return no questions asked scheme, so if I don't like it I can send it back and revert to my S25. I just hope they don't then return the favour by sending me the pair of landfill tablets back.

I think Samsung are launching their tri-fold phone later this year, may be worth hanging on a bit.

I unfortunately missed out on some of the cracking promo codes yesterday whilst trying to get my son to get his arse in gear and get his Unidays account sorted out.

Ill hold off and hopefully there will be some more deals coming available closer to release date.

I fancy swopping my Pixel 9 fold for one as i hate googles launcher.

I love the idea of them, but I just don't feel the technology is there yet. They still seem so very fragile, especially with the cost of the things. The screen ratio when opened also doesn't seem that useful for what I'd want it for, such as watching videos etc. The tri-fold would definitely help there.

Definitely going to be keeping an eye on them over the coming years though. The idea of having a tablet always in your pocket is very appealing.

Yep, pre-ordered yesterday. Currently, I have a Fold 5 and wouldn't want to go back to a slab phone. With trade-ins, coupon codes and pre-order bonuses and got the price down to almost half and a pair of Galaxy Buds 3 Pro thrown in for 'free'.

Have the z fold 5... love it but main issues were crap cameras and bulk. The 7 addresses both so have ordered it !

Can you share the promo codes?

And re the S-Pen; agree, I never used it even with all my Note's and previous S range phones - so for me, it won't be missed

Use Nova; it works faultlessly and it's much more customisable

Really?

I've not had any issues at all with the screens; and for fragility, don't agree. Looked after and used as normal; and in a decent case (ie Spigen Slim Armor or Aramid case etc) they're solid

Apparently their insurance is great too; for a phone of that value - insurance makes sense

I think they were 24 hour only. There was one (ZF7?) in the Samsung shopping app for 5%.One that came if you pre registered before the demo. One for free earbuds - ZLive? -, and PAYPAL for £100 if you paid by PayPal.

Luke.

Does the 4400mh battery not put you off? Having gone from a Z5 to a OnePlus12 the fast charging and battery life is a game changer.

Decided I'm going to move back to Android from my 16PM and AWU2 and move to the Fold 6 and new Watch Ultra in Blue biggrin

I'm going to wait until they're fully released though before I splurge in full... Although I have already chosen my cases hehe

I'm very happy in either iOS or Android camp; but having to give my ZF6 back alongside my 15" MBA last week stung; I really liked the open ZF6 for the likes of texts/WhatsApp/emails etc and then YT; forums, eReading (that was my business mobile but used it most evenings for the above)

I'll use it dual-sim, which is much better on Android than it is on iOS IMO; plus I can set a work profile, so can completely separate both work & personal apps and functions etc

Just out of interest, how do you set up a separate work profile? At the moment I have an iPhone just for work stuff, but this is getting traded in, along with my Fold 5, for the Fold 7. I was going to buy a cheap phone to replace it - my work requirements are minimal - but having a work profile on the Fold 7 means I can turn on and off as needed, which would be ideal. Problem is that all the instructions I can find on the internet on how to do this refer to settings that don't seem to exist in OneUI 7 on my phone. What am I missing? My company doesn't have a device enrolment system, so this would be a purely personal thing.

Any pointers here would be welcome.

I've got my own Google Business Suite account for my little interim project whilst between jobs (thanks Meta laugh ) so I've used that on my old Pixel 4XL and it works as it should

But you can use an app like TestDPC via Play Store

If your work have their own enterprise set up; they should be able to authorise your phone and it'll do it that way - then you'll have the apps separated for both personal and business (ie you'll see the Play Store app and then the same again, but with a padlock on it - that's the work side)

Thanks, I have a Google Workspace starter account, so I'll have a look into what that allows, as well as the app you mentioned thumbup

Would be nice is they just provided this functionality natively without the need for enrolling in device management or needing separate apps - it's not exactly a niche requirement.

I agree; massively agree - seems daft that you can't just enable it yourself

This is another reason why I'm happy to move away from iPhone - can't separate work / personal and in the last week I've called and sent messages via both numbers in error (ie business text sent via my personal number because I thought I'd selected the right line, when I hadn't, or had pressed it twice in error etc)...

Seems daft that iOS makes this part of it even more complicated!

You could try this too: 'How to create work profile in Samsung' on Google search

This post on Reddit echos your suggestion: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments...

Will leave off giving it a go until I get the new phone - easier to test and wipe.

Appreciate the help! beer
