Temporary UK Insurance

Anyone know a good place for this ?

I am UK national living in Netherlands and have a Dutch DL. However obviously I am UK and lived there until 2016. I am borrowing my daughters car for three days.

Being quote 100 Euro's for three days in a Mini 1.6 - pretty sure I can hire a whole car for similar money.

Any ideas welcome

There are three big UK providers:

Between the three of them they cover the widest insurer panel and one will offer the cheapest rate.

Caveat - I am involved with GoShorty but would recommend you running a quote on all three to find the cheapest cover.

Just remember that the cost of running into a bus stop full of people is still a risk to the insurer regardless of how long the cover is for. Temporary insurance operates on quite tight margins.

Try Enterprise car rental.
A full weeks car hire would be about £100 something the size of a Mini and you will able to book in with your address and driving licence

Normally I do rent cars for UK visits - but now my Daughter has a car, I figured we'd drive together and split the driving.

Just didn't think short term cover would be so hard to find

I use RAC temporary cover, seems the easiest to set up and they seem less desperate to bombard you with pop ups and marketing nonsense. But they usually work about £20 to £25 a day on average so yes, could be argued that you and daughter could potentially get a cheap hire car for the duration for less... might be easier to facilitate too if you're based outwith the country?

It's always been relatively expensive whenever I've looked.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't find regular car hire cheaper.

I'd hire as well.

We used to get really good rates from Enterprise, so much so that despite living in the UK it was cheaper to pick a car up when I came back into the country on a Friday afternoon and drop it back off on Monday morning, than it was to either get a taxi each way or park my own car at the airport.

I had to take out 1 months temporary cover last week.

I had to have business use covered and it cost £179 which is on a Mercedes E Coupe. There were others as cheap as £130 for a month if business use wasn’t needed. Think I went through GoCompare.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the thread, but have you asked your daughter to find out the cost of adding you as a temporary additional driver on her own policy?
