Hi, Does anyone know what the condition of a used late 2021 Mini EV battery should be please? I've asked a mini salesman and he says 80% is not bad whereas I feel it should be in the mid 90's after 16000mls and 3 yrs? Also does anyone know what these symbols mean please? They are from the service history of the car we are looking at and I'm obviously wondering as the red looks bad!

If anyone has any ideas that would be brilliant.

Thanks, Colin

Cannot see the images you mention. I'm no expert but 80% doesn't sound that great. I've got a 5.5 year old i3 with 30k on the clock and I'm getting pretty much the WLTP range, there doesn't appear to be any battery degradation (I expect there must be some though).

Hi _Hoppers, thanks for that info, it sounds like you have a good one there. The sales guy did more digging and gave us a print out with some details on it which has reassured us we can now go ahead and purchase the car. FYI the official read outs are: Operating range of the state of charge: 11.50% to 95.27%. Battery Capacity determined by the SME: 98.9%

Not sure how to decipher the above info but I take it as the battery has degraded to 98.9% from the original 100%.

Thanks again

With regards the service history on the car, from your description the red symbols mean the car has gone past the service date/mileage limit. Is this a Mini approved used car?

Hi, yes it's a used Mini EV FEB22 with 16k miles on it.

Not sure how to upload pics I'm afraid.

If it's an approved used Mini I'd be checking the warranty if it has had late services.

I think you need to have made more than 3 posts to upload photos...

It had an MOT in June so I'd assume Mini did a service then? They also cleaned and striped front brakes which raises it's own questions?

Thanks again , I suppose it makes sense having to post 3 time before posting pics.

My wife has a 2023 Mini EV, she loves it and because it costs nothing to run it gets used much more than previous minis.

We have not seen any degradation in the battery.

Thanks, boringcarowner smile We did a test drive and we loved it too. It's only for short commutes (50ml round trip 3 times a week) and the rest just pottering so range not an issue. I was impressed with the solidity, comfort and plenty quick enough too! I feel it's a bargain too if it proves reliable.

EVs tend to not use their brakes too much thanks to regen, this can lead to them needing cleaning from surface rust on the rotor perhaps

I wouldn't just be assuming that they did a service (if one was due?) I'd be checking the service history on the i Drive for the service record
