Anyone Buying New Bikes Now?

All seems a bit quiet. I'm looking at possibly September for a second bike as I want some time to test a few things but noticing I'm not seeing many new bikes about or much chat here about them. Is anyone buying new? If so, what? If only to give me ideas. Want to test some Hondas and maybe a Ducati next week. Tested some Triumphs Saturday and unsurprisingly, having owned one for 6yrs got on well with them. Bikes seem to be getting far more refined all the time.

My bike is a toy that spends 95% of its life sitting in a garage, there's no way I'm paying £23K for something that may cost £500 every time it makes an appearance

Fair point, but the new Honda Hornet is £9,099.

That's the equivalent to £6500 in 2015.

An absolute bargain really, I doubt you'd have found anything like that for £6500 10 years ago.

I've just pushed the button on a new XSR 900 GP. I got a great Px which prehaps reflects a slow market.

Nice. I rode one the weekend. Handles really sweetly, plenty of go and great at filtering. I'm debating one as a commuter and save the RS for fun. Or I go the other way and get something silly while I can.

I filled an empty space in the garage with this

£500 per outing is probably about right

Yep, thats why I said litre bike money! When I sold my RSV4 I was going to buy a 2nd hand S1000rr or similar but was looking at around £15k for a 2 year old bike. I realised I could get the brand new RS660 with 2 years warranty for £10k so went down this route. Makes it a bit more pallatable knowing you are the first owner and the depreciation hit isn't as eye watering on a £10k bike after a few years compared to a £23K bike.

Prices they're at now has put me off a bit. I bought my 1000cc bike at end of agreement

I will get another as I ride a lot and put the miles on but I'll wait until an end of season big discount price

Absolutely no way I'm paying circa £20k once you include an exhaust etc

M1000XR arrived at the dealers today should be collecting next week, I probably ride 5 or 6 times a year (2 of which will be roughly 1k mile trips) so it is difficult to justify but then again I tried living without one and that didn't work, I was so miserable.

That's the Speed Triple's issue. Starts at about 17.5k, add exhaust, heated grips, tank pad and a few protection bits and it's over £20k. I do tend to buy to keep but that's still a lot to stomach for a toy. There's the RX version which includes the exhaust for a bit more but it's a racier seating position so could end up being more uncomfortable. Ex demos are around £15k.

So glad to see this. My missus doesn't get the random bits of old carpet on the garage floor but they do serve a purpose! Glad I'm not the only one

I bought a new Tenere 700 Rally in May. £11,400. In my view that's an 'affordable' bike these days but quite a 'specific' use-case bike.

Depends on what you want the bike to do.

£5k will get you a brand new Royal Enfield Guerilla, which will be all the bike a lot of people want or need/which is why they sell so well.

North of £15k is getting pretty pricey for a luxury item, and especially since you can get a model that's a few years old and I'm great condition, but largely the same as a new one for about 60% of the cost.
