Good days work. Not one there I wouldn't be happy with on my wall (except possibly the last one which is good in a different way).

Great work there sir.

If I'm being a pedant, not all of those are in Aldeburgh...

Love the Breakwater shots & the one of the kid at the Britten sculpture really appeals.

No 4 - I see what you mean about the ropes going somewhere within the composition and the picture being 'resolved' (God I hate you for that )

No 11 (close up of the Britten Sculpture) made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. No idea why, but it did it for me.

If it helps, I'm a bit bothered by the rope crossing the hull, but there was no other way.

Interesting - fear of greater power/spiritual etc?

And tonight, Mattthew, I shall be... Jack Vettriano:

Ooh, no. Not a fear thing. Quite the opposite. I found the juxtaposition of the man-made, and the spiritual (words), and the sky quite arresting. Another image I'd be happy to see framed in my house.

Some of the welding is a bit ropey though. (Sorry chap, I can't help my background )

I looked left and there it was
B/W is a bit special, you have to see in tones not colour and that's why against-the-light stuff ('contre jour') works well, as most of the colour is wiped out anyway and tones are exaggerated. Without colour, you need shape, texture and composition more than ever to pull it off.

Took some of the sculpture myself last year, and a local pointed out the irony of it, Benjamin Britten was a vegetarian......... so why choose a scallop shell, does any know the answer. If you have never been there by the way, there are some luvely painted cottages, and a smashing wine shop on the main drag, well worth a visit.

First time Ive tried to put a pic on this site, so dont know if it will work. If it does, well its a pic of the base of the sculpture at Alderburgh, the clamshell sculpture to Benjamin Britten.

If it dont work, oh well I'l try again

Wow, it worked, always nice when something works. So thought I would just post another pic from Aldeburgh, showing some of the lovely cottages down there. Although you cant see it here, each cottage has its unique name over the door.

These were taken during the summer, when I was down from Aberdeen visiting my brother and sister in law in Felixstowe. Sitting on the beach, wished I had my trunks with me, a lovely hot sunny day.... had to make do with a paddle.
