i am looking for recommendations for a drive south via the A2 to a country pub.

any secret routes, with great roads ending at a great pub ?

We have been to The Dog at Wingham a couple of times. Owners are a son and his Mother. The interior is interesting with a Dog theme. There's surprise! Apparently Mum is an interior designer and it shows. Car park at the back. Wingham is also quite a nive village for a wander afterwards.
