BG junior is a smart young lad (at least I thought so) but hes just asked me, in all seriousness, if Santa exists.

He's ten years old, fairly rational and realistsic.

So what do I tell him? :D

Doh! I had forgotten that I had been there and actually sat at Santas desk and opened and sorted letters (I also bought a Sami knife for kebabing reindeer with). Will dig out the photos, question answered.

Carry on with yout thoughts though PH'ers

Ask him why he asked and what he thinks. He's a bright lad, if he's asking this type of question then he already knows, he just wants you to confirm it for him. Under no circumstances tell him direct fibs, he will never forgive you.

I agree, talk it through with him, he will come to his own conclusions I think.

Mini silverback is 8, he asked me how the 'sleigh' managed to stay airborne.....must admit I am running out of suitable answers.

Talk him through it, let him make his own conclusions would have been the sensible answer.

Telling him to go ask his mum is the wuss (and probably the best mans way ) way.

'Course, now he's probably going to come to you in tears and tell you mum said Santa doesn't exist, then ask you if he does...so you're screwed either way

Hmm, considering some of the reported recent events chez BG he may feel that HE knows the answer but is not entirely sure BG snr is, shall we say, fully in tune. He may be testing you BG.

"Mum, Dad doesn't know if Santa's real or not - can't do, he told me to come back and ask you. Now what do we do about him?"

Either that or he has worked out whaty he sees as the perfect xmas present but it's expensive and he trying to work out the chances of getting it should he ask!

Had a similar situation with one of my kids last year. There's only one answer 'the truth'. So I told her 'of course he exists'.

Tell him Santa didn't make it through the last cold snap.
