Keeping the Cerb...upgrades?
Discussion
OK, I know I'm a bit fickle but I'm thinking it may be a plan to hang onto the Cerb. But to do so, I'll want to do some work on it. So I'm thinking of the following:
1) Some new springs and dampers -- probably Nitrons. Need to get the ride more compliant so my foot doesn't come off the throttle going over bumps
2) Maybe a remap to smooth things out -- don't really need more power
3) Is there any way to make the throttle pedal less "twitchy"?
So who do I go to for this stuff? Bear in mind I'll need an annual service and MOT at the same time. I was thinking Austec. They're in Gatwick but at least I can get a train into the office. Topcats just aren't an option as they're too far away -- same with Joo/Trackcar (and he doesn't do servicing any more). How much should I budget for this lot?
I'm thinking I should maybe keep it forever and gradually turn it into a more track-oriented car. But I still want to get a Ferrari before I'm 35

Well location is an important consideration when contemplating what you do with your car .. as you say you cna get the train to work for somewhere local. Best to have a phone around all the usual suspects first though to make sure you're not missing out on anything .. other than that just go with whoever you feel comfortable with
I'd recommend you go to TCS (pka joospeed) if you're thinking of Nitrons.
He's fitted more Nitrons to cerbies than I've eaten pies, and also specialises in track handling, proven on the track at pro level.
In my opinion, its not about who you feel comfortable with, its who is the dogs undercarriage in that particular area. Now you could consider a racing team, but they would need to do a lot of testing, configuring, testing etc etc... to get it right and the development times are not free!
So for the peace of mind of knowing your car has been set up the best way possible from someone who can put a lot of experience behind the job, Julian aka Trackcar is your man.
Safety, precise configuration goes hand in hand, and then the rest is up to you.

But that would mean two trips, as he doesn't do servicing any more ![]()
BTW where are trackcar these days? I remember it's "oop north" but there's no address on either trackcar's or joospeed's site.
