Want to retrofit Apple CarPlay. What are my options if I don't want seperate controller?

You probably already know Simon but I would suggest speaking to James Hawkes-Reed at Aston Installations. They recently announced on their socials that their CarPlay offering can now be used with the AM OEM infotainment controls, eliminating the need for their separate rotary controller. Although at the moment I think it could only be in relation to the “second” generation dash, ie the one which first debuted on Gaydon DBS with the glass key. I don’t know if it is possible with the last haptic dash fitted to Vantage, which is the same as found in your Vanquish. I’d certainly give them a call or drop them an email as a starting point. HTH a bit, and lovely car by the way. I saw your post in one of the Facebook groups today. Not too long to wait now! BRM.

Report back if you can Simon, I also have the non-glass key dash in and an earlier vantage.

I have the haptic dash in my 2016 Vantage. When I got it I wanted the car play install without additional controls, as it happens the only way of upgrading is to replace the AMI2 with AMI3. This has car play built in and is the natural upgrade. Aston Installations have access to the remaining AMI3 units and can do the job (with associated cabling and configuration) in a few hours at their premises. Totally worth it!

They seem to have the best plug and play option, its a Wireless Unit installed in the trunk which piggybacks with the Garmin Unit, so no need to take the interior apart. https://unique-ad.co.uk/product-category/aston-mar...

I have Carplay/Android Auto in my 2015 Vanquish. It works via the existing centre consol controls.
Mine was done by AM Performance in Macclesfield.
It works well and mine is used for the likes of Waze and Spotify.

I did get a response initially but then it went radio silent, I never followed up. I believe that system is the one AM Reading can supply/fit, you could try them. I keep meaning to ring.

I ordered the IDCore unit for my 2016 Vanquish last week and it arrived Monday. Nice packaging and everything seems to be included. I'll be attempting a DIY installation in the coming weeks.

I installed an ID Core unit from Unique Auto a couple months ago in my 2015 Vanquish. It’s a relatively easy install. The only chore was pulling the microphone and Aux cables through the interior. I eventually opted to use CarPlay for most apps but stream music through Bluetooth since it sounds better to me. I also have a high pitched hum through the car’s Aux connection which I haven’t been able to cure. It only occurs when the car moves so it isn’t an engine ground issue. I also tried ground isolators to no avail. I’d be interested to hear if you discover a similar problem.

Was the hum there before the ID Core install or do you think the two are related?

dpath -- tried to email you but it seems you're not set up for it.

How did you route the wiring from the boot to the cabin? I have my car (Volante) taken apart at the moment and I'm having a hard time finding a way in.

I have a coupe so I ran the microphone wiring through the headliner trim and placed the microphone near the rear view mirror. I’m not sure how best to route this cable in a convertible. I used Velcro to attach the ID Core to the top of the Garmin unit in the trunk and ran the USB and Aux cables through the gap near the rear seat belt anchors and under the rear center arm rest to the front seat center arm rest storage compartment where the Aux port is. I was able to slip the Aux and USB cables under the edges of the arm rest cover so I didn’t need to poke holes into the storage compartment. Let me know if you have any questions or need more details.
