HR Owen - Lambo Service - complimentary car wash quality?

Is the complimentary car wash HR Owen offers with Lambo service good?

Do you recommend it? Do they use any harsh substance? is it suitable for PPF? or you'd recommend an alternative in London?

Appreciate any feedback/colour.

I don't know the specific HR Owen details but personally I don't let garages clean my cars whether with PPF or not.
The guys that do it are not generally specialists and I've watched them 'attack' cars with pressure washers which is not nice to see.

I'm curious, outside of "garages" or services, are there any particular washers you recommend in London?

which specialists do you recommend? It seems all the ones I looked up use power washers, even the mobile ones.

I found topaz at peninsula - they seem to have 5/5 on google.

I also came across tinocarcare.com - he has a youtube channel washing all top cars.

Also any particular air freshner you recommend as being the best?

Jet washers have a use in careful proper car cleaning/detailing. The temptation is to use too much pressure and blast everything off, it saves time and gets things clean whilst also doing some damage.

I wince when I see people blasting tyres, brake calipers and the front scuttle which can lead to water ingress around the firewall.

The simple guide is you shouldn't hit the car with a jet that you wouldn't be happy putting your hand in front of.

I've used Battersea Power wash https://batterseapowerwash.com/ ... There's a clue in the name as to where they are based, in the underground car park at Battersea!

I'm quite picky, but the boss is absolutely a level up and ensures everything is done properly. They look after plenty of cars valued at £3m+, so my little GTS was in good hands and I had them ceramic coat it too.

There may be a new location opening soon in the West End.

I always enjoy the school holidays because there is a lot less traffic on the roads, even if it does mean more time is available to spend on keyboards.

I just put my car through an automated car wash thingy the few times a year it gets washed. One time I got the car back from the service full of some yellow dust that stuck to everything and did not come off [to add - did not come off for a while, not forever], looked like it was parked outside during a sandstorm - I was rather unhappy (was a Porsche Centre).

thanks - that's exactly why i asked.. I'm already bit ocd with these things and when it's complimentary as part of service I just feel they don't care as much.. they actually sent me list of shampoos etc they use but still prefer to have it washed by a detail/wash specialist. also good to know re. power jet washers so will opt for a light ppf wash - so was defo worth it asking here. last thing i want is perm marks or lines cus of lazy wash.

A free wash is free for a reason… I would avoid.

If you have a nice car and want to keep it like that and, as you say, are a bit ocd, the best recommendation is to find a professional retailer. They will pre pop and detail the car properly and then get into maintenance washes to keep it pristine.

Engaging with a proper detailed is what I recommend. There are lots about. Of on the other hand you just want a decent wash then that’s different.

I don’t have a personal recommendation for where you live but enjoy the finish product when you have it done. A freshly detailed car is amazing!

I think if you are OCD about that stuff, then definitely tell them "no thanks, please put a note on the car that it should not be washed". It can be totally fine, but it can also be the local car wash or just a quick pressure wash round back, which might or might not have a detrimental effect.

Yep already made that request. now looking for a good washer, will probably go with Tino or the battersea guys (who actually offer a ppf light wash). will report back once done.

also if it helps, i got this tiny powerful air duster that works magic - it clears up most dust/debris without any wiping in fraction of time.

cheers for that. agreed. just want to keep it in perfect condition and reduce any risk of accidents even if tiny (towel marks or anything from the jet wash).

not exactly a free wash if you have just spent 4k on a service though is it! even a minor service is 2k.... ive let hatfield wash both my lambos, no new swirls on either.

I hear u but it's just a psychology thing.. if it was one aspect of the service that you pay then it would sound different when they say it's a complimentary one, just makes it feel a little less serious esp with all the unknown chemicals that can be involved.. anyhow maybe next time - good to learn on some of the points above. just got it a back and going for a light ppf wash and no jet wash on "edges" etc..
