Do off duty police officers wear their uniform when off duty?https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/north-yorksh...

What is it about Pride that triggers people so much?.

I assume the op will also support a ban on police participation in rememberance parades and wearing a poppy?
No? Just being homophobic then.
The op is commenting on a high court decision that the force were acting unlawfully. F all to do with remembrance day and poppies. No? Just being homophobic then.

Now read what I wrote.
It's quite right that the police shouldn't show affiliation or support for any movement, religion, creed or cause, they are supposed to be impartial and apolitical.
Many of those who think the police should be allowed to affiliate and show support for a cause such as Pride, would be foaming at the mouth if Jewish police started wearing patches with the Magen David on their uniforms.
You can't pick and choose, you either let the police support and affiliate with any cause, or none. It's high time the police focused simply on policing. Homophobia has nothing to do with it. Unless of course, people are suggesting that the judge who recently ruled Northumbria Police's support for Pride to be unlawful is a homophobe?

The high count ruling is F all to do with Pride, or poppies, but is a general ruling on what they can and can't wear or be associated with. And if the answer is nothing, then it's nothing.

Gay Pride isn't really a "cause" is it?
Can you be for or against Gay Pride now?
Isn't it just a thing that just "is" ?
It’s a political movement and the judgement is around police associating themselves with that political movement when they are meant to be impartial. Can you be for or against Gay Pride now?

Police wearing uniform when policing the parade then no problem, police officers taking part when off duty no problem, police officers taking part and wearing uniform when off duty then there’s a problem.

This is what I'm trying to get my head around.....who cares if the Police show signs of "support" to the LGBTQ community? That doesn't mean they "oppose" any other community. I'd also argue that it was a social issue rather than a political issue. Can you be for or against Gay Pride now?

Seems easily solved though- coppers shouldn't be wearing uniform in their spare time, as any observer will assume that they are on duty and representing their force in whatever they happen to be doing at the time? I know, they have to travel to work, but surely common sense should apply here?
Why any cop would want to wear their uniform for any event off duty is beyond me, whether that be gay pride or Poppy Day. It screams of ‘look at me doing the right thing’. You can do the right thing by attending events such as these but without the ‘look at me’ bit, by leaving their uniforms at home.
Basically you are allowed to do good things without telling others you’re doing them.
There’s a taxi driver who posts on SM about never charging customers who are taking their kids to the local childrens hospital. Extremely noble of him and he deserves an OBE etc, but posting the videos of him doing it, whilst maybe heart warming is still a bit ‘look at me doing the right thing’.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that the Police as an organisation should avoid overt displays of 'support'. Individual officers on their own time and out of uniform are at complete liberty to take part of course.
