Cumbria mega mosque - UKIP content
Discussion
This has been dragging on for ages, people saying it is a ‘mega mosque’ and ‘in the Lake District’, neither of which are true. It’s the size of a parish church and is close to the Lake District, but not in it.
Protests are getting worse now. Contractors being called ‘traitors’ etc., extra police patrols, arrests etc.

I wonder if those complaining about it would be happy if the Doctors having it built decided not to build it but also left the area for a more welcoming area where they could find somewhere to worship close to home ?
I'm not a fan of religion at all but as long as it is legal people should be able to build places of worship without hassle regardless of who or what they worship.

I used to be totally against religion and quite forthright in my views about it, but Ive softened a lot over the last few years, I'm still a total atheist, I think it's total bobbins but I more live and let live these days.I'm not a fan of religion at all but as long as it is legal people should be able to build places of worship without hassle regardless of who or what they worship.
As for the mosque, so what, who cares if its serving a need for the local community then that's good in my mind.

It may be a great idea to ask let the locals decide, Doctors or mosque? I'm not a fan of religion at all but as long as it is legal people should be able to build places of worship without hassle regardless of who or what they worship.

Ditto, for me it's an age thing. The older i get the more tolerant and accepting i become. Live and let live, be nice to everyone you come into contact with (outside of NPE As for the mosque, so what, who cares if its serving a need for the local community then that's good in my mind.

A Religious doctor sounds like an oxymoron to me.
I don't know how you can do both in this country legitimately without a conflict of personal interest.
They're doctors who happen to be Muslims, they're not faith healers. Having religious beliefs and the ability to practice medicine are not mutually exclusive.I don't know how you can do both in this country legitimately without a conflict of personal interest.
Regarding the mosque, it doesn't look to be an eyesore, it's not excessively large, it's will be the only one for miles etc. Yeah, maybe there's not a huge community who will use it, but I suspect that if it were a new church being built that nobody would be up in arms.

With 3500 churches closing since 2013 i can't see any new ones being built.Regarding the mosque, it doesn't look to be an eyesore, it's not excessively large, it's will be the only one for miles etc. Yeah, maybe there's not a huge community who will use it, but I suspect that if it were a new church being built that nobody would be up in arms.

Apart from abortion, which is an issue for plenty of non-religious people, where is there a conflict?I don't know how you can do both in this country legitimately without a conflict of personal interest.
I get a bit shakey after 4 or 5 hours without food. I wouldn't want to be undertaking surgery after say 10hrs without food as one example.
But I can think of quite a few GP scenarios where advice could be tainted by someone's belief in the make believe.
