F30 Media sound not working on RHS

2013 F30 - Music is not coming out of the RH speakers, both front and rear. All other door functions work.

Is it most likely to be the head unit that's failed? Can it be repaired? If not, will a second hand unit need to be coded to the car?

Someone will have way more info on this but yes any new head unit will probably need to be coded. Also the early F3x models had a set of hardware that was soon replaced. I looked at upgrading my screen and head unit in my 2012 F31 and it looked a nightmare as there where some hang overs from the previous model and it was soon replaced with a different interface.

Checking the connections and for any wiring damage would be a good place to start.

You make no mention of whether you have checked the "balance" control?

Yep, checked that. When balance is set fully on RHS the sound can only be heard, albeit muffled, from the subwoofer under the driver's seat.
