I’m looking at this car later this week. Does anyone on the forum know it? It would be great to get a former owners inside view before viewing

Many thanks

Went to see it today, with the exception of the boot and bonnet, every metal panel showed signs of corrosion bursting through the paint, roof leading edge, front wing arches and lips, bottoms of doors, extremities and arches of rear wings.

Rear plinth chrome cracked due to corrosion, rear brake discs badly worn, rh rear window seal loose/falling off. Drivers seat lever missing.

No umbrella, nor accessories in glove box.

On opening the drivers door the pump ran for about 25 seconds

I didn’t drive it as I knew it wasn’t the car for me.

So a 26000 mile car with the above for £5 under £40k

They are usually cheap for a reason - doesn’t mean the expensive ones are spot on thought .
Don’t think they came with an umbrella .
Suggest an inspection by David Such well worth doing .
And if you get one , join the what’s app group

Interesting - 26k is nothing for a car like this? £40k is cheap but if you could get it cheaper still by listing the issues it has it would get really interesting!

I was thinking about these the other day having been at the Aston workshop - they offer manual conversions for £20k.

If you got the original car cheap enough (assuming basically sound), the issues fixed and a manual conversion that could be some car for a not an unreasonable total sum given they are very special cars?

Any car that age unless its been nowhere and lived in a bubble will have some paint and body issues. or they have been repaired at least once.

I just bought one cheapish as a bit of a project as it needs a few bits sorting. as with anything buy on condition.

mine has high mileage but over 120k in service and restoration work.

Thanks for that information Pat. 25 seconds is a very long time for the pump to run.

Unfortunately the Vanquish is now so cheap that people who can now afford them do not have the money or the knowledge to look after them.
Parts are becoming unobtainable and specialists are vital as the AM dealers no longer have the staff with the knowledge or the parts.

And you remember the invoice for refitting it.

Ive been keeping an eye on Vanquish prices. About £40k is the cheapest Ive ever seen, so youre going to get the rough ones sold at auction. At £50k there are some nice examples

I do.... £12.50 labour (+VAT) for putting it in the velcro straps.

The Newport Pagnell Vanquish is a beautiful car, but after reading the posts above (and I don't think the front subframe has been mentioned), I wonder whether a DB9, DBS or Vantage might be a more sensible choice for a new buyer. There are some pampered examples around, which would have fairly modest maintenance costs.

The photo in the OP's post looks good.

I believe it was an option though.
