Her ladyship has given me this wonderful pic of her Mum and Dad. After nearly 60 years of gracing their livingroom wall the photo is showing its age. Can any of you guys work some of your magic?

How big is the full size image?
And can you host it and put a link here for folks to download and edit/retouch?

740 - I assume you want to re-print this photo? I also assume you scanned the photo in?

If so, you need to rescan and set everything to maximum - this will give a large file that can be touched up and then re-printed. If we were to touch up the photo above, it would only ever be of use on the net.

Steve

edited to add - the large file won't be accepted by photobucket (I don't think) so you'll need to e mail it to one of us - I'm perfectly happy to host the file so that some from here can download and work on it - but I am on dialup, so it would be better for someone with broadband to offer - (I'm sure they will!)

Send it to me and I'll whack it on my webspace - mail me through my profile for my email address.

As GetCarter says though, you need to rescan it as high quality as possible and then send me the result.

Thanks for all your interest guys.I didnt scan the print but took a shot of the ageing print with my camera (they were reluctant to let me take the photo away). Next time I visit these folks I will borrow the pic and get it scanned and pass it on to one of you. I know Nell and Den will be most grateful if there is a chance to have this lovely memory of their happy moment in 1946 to be restored to its former glory.

i'd be happy to give it a go when you get a decent scan, it looks like a pretty simple job - not in bad condition for a photo that old

As has been said already the condition looks fairly good for the age, I did the same thing for my grandparents for their golden wedding anniversary and they loved it. I'd be happy to do this one if someone else hosts it

Just a quick play, taking out some of the dust, marks, the dude in the bottom left and some of the hotter areas to the right hand side.
If I get time I'm more then happy to help

if you use the history brush (in darken mode) to the state where you have used the dust & scratches filter, on specific patches that you want to mend, it will come out looking a lot better with the fine detail still intact

- but having spent 7 hours on a plane that should have been 2.5 yesterday, 2 minutes is really only what I could give it, and was just to give the author an soupsong idea of what could be done.
