Mrs BC and I left the car park in Park Lane, London last week. Due to roadworks we had to join into the bus lane so I thought I’d download the dash cam footage just in case.

Anyway on checking it seems that the camera only started recording about 30 - 40 minutes after we started the journey so I don’t have the footage I might need. I’m trying to work out why that happened. Could it be that as that’s a very busy car park the camera recorded lots of cars & people passing our car then closed down to avoid draining the battery?

I’ll take a look at the settings but not sure what I’m looking for. The camera is a Thinkware Q1000.

Any thoughts and/or help appreciated .

Is it an old dashcam? If so it could have issues...

I have a Q1000. You should be able to set the camera up to balance how it records and how it stores the data on the card. You will need to put the camera SD card in a PC running the Thinkware software to do this.

My niggle is getting between half and 1 1/2 miles away before the GPS connection is made. It is a camera issue and not location dependent.

I just went back over the recordings. It all went wrong early this month when I turned it off for about 3/4 of an hour while driving through Luxembourg where dash cams are illegal.

I do wonder with cams being illegal in various European countries how they get around the built in versions?

Mercedes get round that by not having auto start on their built in cameras. Have to start manually every journey, and get a data protection / legality warning every time. PITA.
