You know, having had a closer look at ingredients I think it may be the SLS. Tried a Sensodyne paste which also was uncomfortable and its got SLS in it. Will try to seek out an SLS free variant. get a tube of that and I predict your problem will be solved immediately.

One of the sensodyne products causes terrible sloughing in my mouth, horrible stuff, whereas their protect and repair causes no issues, never checked the ingredients tbhGassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
