SRS Airbag fault - Vantage 2013
Discussion
Hi,
I have a 2013 4.7 Vantage with an SRS Airbag fault. I have scanned the car and its related to the pressure sensor on the passenger door, ECU code 0031334738.
I have tried to clear the fault several time and it comes back within seconds. More recently i just purchased a new to me sensor ( Volvo 30669107 ) and fitted that and still have the same fault, even after clearing it again.
The car was in an accident a few months ago where i hit a post on the passenger side, cracked the wing and damaged the passenger door right on the front crease not far from where the sensor is located. No airbags were deployed and the damage was just cosmetic.
The damage has all been repaired and rather than trying to repair the door i simply bought a new bear door complete with wiring loom and swapped over all the components.
Here where it gets weird.... the fault 100% wasn't there after the accident. but during the door replacement did encounter a flat battery due to the door being off and the interior light being on... and yes i forgot to disconnect the batter while.
I personally feel the SRS fault happened after the flat battery ( when eth door had been refitted ) but i have the slight niggle it came on while the door was off ( due to the sensor not being connected ) .. i simply cant remember.
any thoughts ?
Could it be a wiring loom problem ? ( the replacement door came with the wiring loom fitted )
.. the fault actually says
"Left pressure sensor (door) communication line - open circuit/no new data/Manchester/parity error". ECU code 0031334738.
Do i need a better scanner to clear a fault ?

- Just some of my thoughts *

From what you say I'd take a guess that there is a problem at the connector where you took the door off, or with the harness inside the new door.
I'm not an automotive electrics expert but to me your fault code of "Left pressure sensor (door) communication line - open circuit/no new data/Manchester/parity error". ECU code 0031334738. implies to me that there is an open circuit to the pressure sensor - i.e. there is either a broken wire or a connector not making contact.
As you've had the door off I'd guess it's not in the main vehicle harness, but in the door sub-harness. I'd be inclined to do some continuity testing from the door plug, but I'd make sure the door was unplugged and battery off to avoid inadvertently triggering the side airbags.
I doubt a different reader will fix this problem as, to me, it looks like a real, live issue
