I don't know why but that girl from Trek Culture I find unwatchable and unlistenable.
I find the videos from Trek Culture pretty good on the whole regardless, easy to stick on. Colin Weldon is pretty good on YouTube, although his videos are all conversation so a bit less flashy. Might be more up your street?

I might give him a go then. I've watched TC quite a bit - back to when Adam Cleary was doing it. Just that girl's delivery and manner irritates. I'm old, not her fault I'm sure! I'm not convinced at this point - there were a couple of nice bits in the trailer but
- I did get the "...you're great...", "...be strong...", "...it's ok to cry...", "...OMG, like did you hear/SOOOO (followed by mid-teen gossip crap)..." vibe.
- it looks too glossy (virtually like someone's had fun overapplying an HDR filter to their photos)
I get that the bigwigs want to get younger people into ST - but that shouldn't be at the expense of everyone else

But we've got SNW? - I did get the "...you're great...", "...be strong...", "...it's ok to cry...", "...OMG, like did you hear/SOOOO (followed by mid-teen gossip crap)..." vibe.

I get your point, back in the day though we only had ONE series at a time really, small overlaps maybe. So even though VOY/DA9/TNG/ENT were all different they were all still kind of similar. One of the benefits of having multiple media formats on the go is it allows them to have different shows for different audiences.
Not saying it's right or wrong as personally I'd be very happy if they had something like DS9 and Voyager on at the same time. But i
I see their strategy. I'm going to watch it all anyway and cross my fingers for Legacy or something else to follow SNW.

Will give it a go because Bob Picardo is in it. It still looks a bit "teen soap opera in space" from that but time will tell.C5_Steve said:

Oh don't misunderstand me, I'm still going to watch it in hopeful anticipation (but on the basis it can't be worse than ST
and managed about 80% of that before I lost the will to live)
This might be determined by how much Tilly is in it, looking anxious, having a breakdown with over sharing babbling while ultimately coming good and being an all round good egg.

I liked her character early on in Disco, I think she peaked with the mirror universe stuff but they kind of lost their way with her after that. Despite them telling you she was more confident etc I never really saw it in her acting. She just stayed the same but kind of lost all the fun of those early seasons.
It was like she was set up to be a discount Reg Barclay but then they tried to take the character in an unrelated direction and it just didn't work.

She's not in it alot apparently. They mentioned at New York CC that she's in it less than you'd expect.

If she's not in it much, then that pleases me greatly. I just never saw how she would ever have got through starfleet academy to set foot on a ship, she had so many hangups and insecurities. She made Barclay seem like a normal guy! I never could get past that "how is she even THERE?" feeling.I liked her character early on in Disco, I think she peaked with the mirror universe stuff but they kind of lost their way with her after that.
