Anyone know what wheel sizes will fit my 2014 F01 730d please?

I'm considering getting a spare set of alloys to run winter tyres and it seems going for wheels smaller than my stock 20" opens up greater choice of tyres but I need to establish which wheel/tyre sizes will fit. My current wheels are...

Fronts
8.5J x 20" ET25
Bolt pattern 5x120mm
245/40 R20

Rears
10J x 20" ET41
Bolt pattern 5x120mm
275/35 R20

I believe I can drop to 19" wheels with 245/45 R19 tyres all around? but I need to know the wheel offset and width requirements

You could put your VIN into RealOEM.com and drill down to the wheels section to see what wheel combos were available.
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=7C22-E...

Some may not fit if there was (and you have) an upgraded brake option.

Smallest seems to be 17"
  • 7.5x17et27 F/R with 225/60r17 tyres
But the winter options start at 18"
  • 8x18et30 F/R with 245/50r18 winters

All F01 wheels are here; if needs be use Chrome to translate: https://www.auto-treff.com/wcf/index.php?tagged/84...

I ran style 351Ms for my summers (they're off the F10/F11 range and I used 15mm / 12mm spacers to run them); and for winters I used Style 234s which are an OEM F01 wheel, with 18" non RFT Nexen winter tyres and they were superb and coped with the weather in The Highlands with zero issues

If I were to do it again; I'd run 18" Goodyear Vector Gen3 all season tyres for winters; that's what I have for our F31 and they're excellent tyres

F01 on 351Ms:

F01 on Style 234s:

TBH the F01 was super-comfy on the 18s and they didn't look lost either, personally I'd have run them all year round, but got the 351Ms for pennies and hated the 20" wheels it came on, so was happy to see the back of them

All seasons is certainly an option, I had the Goodyear Vecors on my Skoda Yeti 4x4 and was pleased with them. I could just swap the tyres on my current 20" wheels but if going all season I'd prefer an 18" wheel to achieve a higher side wall for comfort and grip.

What size tyres did you have on your 234's please, were they 245/50 all round?

It's all here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

But I ran 245/50/18s on the Style 234s

Sets are on eBay and well priced:

I had my pal refurb mine; but I'd say they're easily doable DIY if that's your thing

I believe if you look at the sticker on the drivers door pillar one of the options for sizes is normally indicated by a snowflake showing your winter wheel/tyre combo.

Did you fit your spacers for the 234 wheels for aesthetic reasons, or were they needed to fit correctly?

They're OEM F01 wheels so yes, fit as they should. But the 12mm hubcentric spacers had them sitting much better and not as tucked in

It was a superb car, regretted selling it. Great spec too and it was brilliant up in the Highlands in Feb 2022. Drove over to Braemar to lift the Inver Stone and got out feeling fresh and relaxed. A brill drive up and passed Glen Sheen etc

On the 18s it was a proper waft bus wink

Grateful for the advice, thanks.

I've just got to decide whether to go with all season, or winter, both options need smaller wheels than my stock 20" to give a choice of tyre. If having another set of wheels i'm tempted to go winter tyres and swap the wheels over twice a year, but there isn't much choice available. I can get the Nexen Winguards that you had from Autodoc but I'd need to find a local fitter willing to fit tyres that I haven't bought from them. I'll give it some pondering smile

See what tyres Camskill can offer you (if you're in the UK that is) - I found the Nexen Winguard tyres very good; Nexen make good tyres now; they're no longer the ditchfinders they were years ago

They got me over Glen Shee in snow and horrible conditions to Braemar (no snow and 5ºC warmer) with zero issues; got us to a few distilleries in the Highlands too in snowed over roads

Camskill here for Goodyear all-seasons with £80 cashback for buying 4 tyres: https://www.camskill.co.uk/m141b0s11436p221302/Goo...

A lot more choices here on MyTyres:

All-seasons: https://www.mytyres.co.uk/search?priceCategory=rec...

Winters: https://www.mytyres.co.uk/search?sortCode=price_as...

I was looking at MyTyres earlier for the Nexens, but for some reason they don't have any approved fitters anywhere near me in Sheffield. I'll perhaps have to get them posted to me and then find a local tyre fitter that fit tyres that I provide them

Just find a local back street garage that'll fit and balance tyres for you for £beertokens - or a local wheel refurb place that'll do it all for you if you get the wheels refurbed wink

My pal here in Preston is a wheel refurb specialist; so it's him that I always use for this stuff

Worth a road trip across the Pennines IMO wink Don't forget your passport biggrin

I've a good mind to drive my 730d into the front door of Liverpool passport office following a recent issue I've had with them, I can stop off at Preston on the way smile

Yes you're right, it does, and it mentions winter tyres (M+S)

I grabbed the set in your first link, will get some tyres ordered when the alloys arrive this week.

Decided to go with winter tyres as thats what I normally do with our cars, have a set of wheels for summer and a set for winter, and change them every spring/autumn on my drive. Storage can be a bit of a pain though. I also prefer to do the swap myself as I have a 'thing' about jacking up in the correct place on the car and using a jack puck. I think I have jacking OCD!

Cheers smile

Thats fair enough. I've a Keter shed at the bottom of the garden and that's for my gardening tools and wheels storage etc...

I have a set of wheel storage bags and they're great for the overall storage, plus I put some offcuts of carpet in there, so it's nice and dry and soft floored, so no risk of damage

As said, I find the all seasons are perfect for our UK winters, they perform as you'd want in snow, very cold, very wet etc and they can go on earlier and stay on longer etc

And yes agree, I change our wheels, do or properly with a full clean down too and torqued to spec etc

The set of 18" 234 wheels from eBay arrived today, took one to a local refurb place to get a quote. They are happy to receive the new tyres directly when I order them, to save me having to transport 4 x wheels plus 4 x tyres to them, and they ll dispose of the old tyres which will make life easier for me.
