Well, I suppose I would rather have a gigantic car tailing me from 5' behind than a gigantic SUV - but still, what in the world would posess a person to buy one of these things?

I guess there aren't going to be many individuals who buy these to drive themselves, most will be governmental or corporate vehicles.

Wonder if they'll make an AMG version

Where is Pininfarina these days? Or Ital? Or Bertone? Or Ghia? The only great design house aactive at the moment, Zagato, seems hell-bent on making the Aston Martin DB7 ugly. Oh, and why did they let Max Power do the headlights?

What an absolutely shambles of a car IMHO - see Merc have reduced number of projected manufactured units. Hope reliability is better than current S series - did you see those letters/articles in recent Sunday Times!! - kings new clothes or what - Merc rapidly loosing their reputation/way. Wonder if Maybach has passed the Elk test.
