Hi all,

I am in the process of selling my 981 gt4 after owning it for a few years. I am after a 991s or gts both na 3.8 versions rather than the turbo.

Aim is to get the kids in the back and have it for more day trips with the family

I have been looking at various 991’s and just wanted to understand when they did get rid of the buttons to change gear in favour of the paddles.

And around that time did they change anything else worth having on the cars? I don’t want the buttons to change gear

Thanks

Pete

Pa if anyone is interested in a 2016 guards red gt4 with 14k on the clock clubsport spec let me know

Get a manual, thank me later.

There’s only one 3.8 manual on AT at the moment and it’s £15k more expensive than newer 3.0T versions (granted lower miles) but in a terrible colour.

Future classic.

I know I want a manual after having a 997.2s in guards red manual. But the prices and availability make them gts money

All PDK 991.1 with multi function steering wheel have the push/pull buttons. And they are awful. IIRC you could swap the steering wheel and gain the paddles.

Porsche East London fitted me a new steering wheel with paddles for about £1.4k a couple of years back.

Game changer, well worth it

Yep. Changed the wheel on mine too - the tiptronic buttons were horrible,

The Sport Design wheel I have in my 987.2 came out of a 991.1 and has paddles. Plug-and-play swap.

They didn't get rid of buttons for paddles. Buttons were standard, paddles were an option.

I personally preferred buttons. 90% of other people preferred paddles.

But both were fairly dim-witted and it was better to drive them as an auto IMHO.

You can also swap in the 991.2 wheel if you want a multifunction wheel with shift paddles. Apparently a quite simple thing to do.

This, I had my independent do the same. Basic sport wheel + paddles and the little stick for multi function duties which I prefer.
