I found the Seal topic, but not one particular to the Sealion 7. This are being heavily introduced here in Indonesia at a price that makes them impossible to ignore - primarily as someone who gets paid in GBP against a weak local currency.

We don't have the Excellence in Indonesia, the Comfort and Design are badged differently - Premium and Performance respectively.
At today's exchange rate a Comfort / Premium is 29k GBP and a Design / Performance is 33k vs 47k & 53k.
We also do not have PCP or other similar tools for purchasing, it's either low deposit and insane interest rates or what I'm going for:
50% deposit (in the form of my 2 year old Yaris Cross HEV) and then 23 payments of 750 GBP/month for a total cost of 36k. This also includes 2 years insurance.
Insurance is a little odd here, you pay to cover the car (any driver), and any incident no matter how big or small has a deductible of about 15 quid, no questions asked, no increase in premiums.

The wife is in the process of ordering a Performance to be at home by the time I get back home in a week or two - assuming the all the nicks and marks on the Yaris Cross are finished in time.

Looking forward to the new car.

It's on my radar as seems cheap on SS lease Haven't seen one in person yet to judge all those aspects such as size, build quality etc.

Also conscious the seal is getting an update including new battery pack and need to check if sealion is the same as old or new seal build.

Good luck with yours

Pretty sure I saw one parked up in a light blue the other day. Looked good, especially for an SUV.

I've got a seal Excellence on the way but it was a toss up between that and the SL7. The SL7 has a lovely interior, didn't drive one but the seal drove really nicely. Not sure I'd ever want to own any of these cars but make a lot of sense to me on Salary Sacrifice.

I have been home for 2 weeks, went for a test drive in the AWD version, sold the Yaris Cross and new Sealion is being delivered tomorrow.
Impressive acceleration as you would expect with 530hp. Very comfortable inside.

Will update with more news after some time with it.

I guess you are buying an in stock vehicle then? I've been seeing a lot of new or very nearly new (sub 5k miles) cars quite heavily discounted. Makes me wonder why, they can't all be demo cars. Everyone I've spoken to with a seal or sl7 loves the car, I guess some people get them on salary sacrifice then leave their job for whatever reason and lose the car maybe that's part of it. I've been waiting 5 weeks now for my seal on salary sacrifice lease. They keep telling me the order is on track but when I press for some actual details they don't seem to have anything other than "it's in transit"... Sooo does that mean in the UK or in transit on a boat somewhere near china??

Guess I'll just have to suck it up but if it's the latter I suspect the original date won't be met. Hopefully it was on one of the ships that came to the UK this month as the rest are now a long way away. Anyway I'm rambling now... Very jealous of your impending new car day!! Post pics when it arrives

Tempted by a Sealion 7 Excellence via a SS scheme. Didn’t drive one but took a quick look in the showroom and was impressed.

Reviews are largely positive apart from the safety messages. Anyone got really works experience on these? Easy enough to turn off before driving?

A lot of the whinging about that stuff is out of date, there's been a few updates recently that have supposedly made them less intrusive but I know you can turn them off, unfortunately it's a turn off every time you drive thing.

I went and had a good nosey around a couple of these at a BYD dealer today. First impressions were pretty good. I like the abundance of physical controls. However, despite the overall feeling of good quality, I was surprised at how cheap the physical buttons and switches felt - hard plastic buttons on the steering wheel, for example, seem like a questionable choice when they're what you'll touch most. The rotating screen also remained in landscape mode when rotated to portrait, and then steadfastly refused to rotate back to landscape, suggesting the software isn't quite there yet either.

Overall I liked the car, but left asking myself why I'd pick it over a very similarly priced Polestar 4, or a much more keenly priced MG IM6. There would need to be a very deep discount and very attractive finance for me to buy the Sealion 7.

The statement that you have to turn off the ADAS every time is not true with the model I have. Although sold to me in Indonesia, it is labelled as a UK variant.
None of mine are turn on apart from the proximity sensor for parking. That is the only one that will not stay off. Nothing else is on at any time whether I have been in the car recently or weeks prior.

Considering one of these at the moment, anyone had one for a while now?

Any insights on how they hold up?

Ended up ordering one... arrived today and have done 100 miles in it so far. Very pleased with it. Didnt take long to figure out how to get the settings right on all the systems.

Very nice smile

Out of the current BYD offerings. these are probably my fave.

I have the Temu (of the Temu) version, Leapmotor C10.

I describe this as somewhere between Porsche Macan and Audi Q7, but Temu version.

Although that is a little unfair as the quality of the interior is no different to my previous Audi's or Porsche's. It's the plastic wheel arches that are my biggest gripe with the sealion.

And the ride is much better now the tyres aren't 20% overinflated, as they came at handover!

They are quite often buyback returns , normally for faults they couldn't fix in a time frame, or get the parts to fix , some are demo, the dealer I work with has put a lot of staff in them which double as demo and can clock up more than usual demo miles.

Ones that get damaged in transit, on site or by staff accidents are turning up on Copart, along with the written off ones.

A guy I know had this conversation last night, he always scours Copart for a bargain, said these Chinese things are very cheap damaged, but changed his mind on hearing the parts situation. Not cheap if you cannot repair them.

Look for the parts department in the dealer you are buying from, I doubt you will find one. Certainly none in the 5 dealers I do work for. Well there is, but only for Ford.

There is probably an opening to buy these cheap damaged ones and set up a specialist breaker lol.
