Has anyone built a seven-esque car with the S2000 engine? If so were there any major problems with the build and how much should I expect to pay for the S2000 powerplant?

I know there's a guy that runs a Westfield with one, bloody fast

People will start to be slinging them off roads about now, it would be well worth looking for crash damaged ones (6 speed box and lsd might be worth having too, as well as the engine management)

Thanks for that,

I was wondering about problems such as the size of the engine, as its quite a tall beasty, problems getting them to run with / without the standard loom and ecu and apparently there tends to be an oil starvation problem to #4 Cylinder under heavy lateral load. Fixing all these problems is likely to cost some cash, £1000 ish for dry sumping which sorts engine height and oil starvation on top of at least £2.5K for the engine then there's non oem looms and ecu's to consider, starts to get a bit pricey! Has anyone done this and can give me an idea of overall build cost for the engine, gearbox, diff etc.. running in the car?

I'm not sure, but I think the Honda engine rotates the 'wrong' way; which means that any installation will need to use the Hond diff. as well.

Please correct me if I'm wrong - don't want to post misleading info.

It does not matter if it would rotate the other way as long as you use the complete drivetrain (including the diff). AFAIK the S2000 engine is one of the very few engines that rotates the "right" way...

Yep, S2000 and K20A (Civic Type R) engines rotate the correct way. Have a look on The WSCC and search for the username donkeydave, he's done a top install in his Westie.

I know of two that are being done at the moment, one is by a good friend and the other by a guy I bought my R1 engine off of.... his site is here.

whilst we were on USA2005 there were several WCM Ultralites that use the S2000 in them. they seem quite quick, and are of reasonable price so that might suit sir's fancy. the owner of WCM, Brian Anderson is a very nice bloke who drove one of our support vehicles for USA2005, and is very knowledgeable about all things Se7en, as he had brought a number of marks of Se7ens into the USA over the years.

worth a look! www.wcmultralite.com/

the K20A (CTR 2.0) definitely rotates the 'correct' way - I was also pretty sure the s2000 motor - both in 2.0 and 2.2 (not uk) versions went the 'wrong way' just like every vtes until the k20a.

try: www.blinkmotorsport.com as they have fitted an swk into an westfield so they should be able to give decent advice i'd have thought.

Sorry to revive this thread.

Can you elaborate the rotation (right way)of the Honda s2000 engine? If I'm setting in the car, Is the driveshaft rotates clockwise?

If it is, is there any solution to use the cosworth diff instead of the Honda diff?

The S2000 engine runs the same way as a cossie engine.... so you could use the cossie diff but the gearing may not be 100% suitable as I understand the S2000 uses an unusual rear diff ratio.
