Pack of scissors, 4hr in A n E
Discussion
I'm just sat here waiting...
My father needed some new kitchen scissors, they came in that really thick clear plastic...
Having no scissors to open them he decided to get an old Stanley knife and open then on his thigh!
You can guess the rest, nearly did an artery!!
All well eventually....

Ouch.
I once managed to stab myself in the thigh with a screwdriver doing something similar, the most painful bits were the instant realisation it was something very stupid and entirely avoidable, rapidly followed by regret over doing it while wearing a brand new pair of what had been quite nice jeans.

Hope he recovers quickly.
I bought an axe to make kindling with, it came in a tough plastic case, similar story.
Embedded the Stanley knife into my left index knuckle joint, but managed to superglue it back together.
Went to the docs over something separate and she caught sight of it, mentioned I should have had a stitch or two.
Asked me if the blade was clean and I admitted I’d been cleaning grout around the toilet floor with it the previous week, so I got a free tetanus jab out of it.
I’d post a pic but it looks more graphic than the injury itself.
Luckily Stanley blades are designed to “only” cut you as deep as the blade, so hopefully he hasn’t done too much damage and recovers OK.

Many, many years ago my mother had a Stanley knife mishap; fortunately, I was at her house at the time. She'd used a Stanley knife to open the ubiquitous plastic packaging of something and the knife was on the kitchen bench, still with the blade exposed.
As she moved away, she caught the knife and sent it spinning off the bench towards the floor where it neatly impaled her sandal-clad foot next to her big toe. I have rarely seen so much blood in such a short time!

Cor 4hrs is a very quick turnaround.
Hope your dad has a swift recovery.
I recently spent 71hrs in A&E. Within that time I was seen 3 times by docs and had various tests and scans, but was returned to waiting room each time after no more than 10 mins. I was later put on an emergency short stay ward for 7 days.
I also witnessed a fairly shocking incident where an older gentleman, also sat waiting, drained of colour and keeled over. It became apparent he'd had a massive hemorrhage and when the nurses rushed over to him a tidal wave of blood poured from his trousers and boots. He was rushed out, but I'd be very surprised if he made it tbh.
A&E is a bloody awful place and tbh I have no idea how any of the nurses cope with it. Especially when you have violent/abusive people, drunks and druggies to contend with too.

I was 4 hours in A&E, 2 Sundays ago, result of being distracted whilst chopping coriander, took the nail clean off my left middle finger and most of the nail bed, so bad I had an emergency appointment the next day at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, they specialise in hand trauma and plastics.
Fortunately I hadn't caught the bone and there was just enough nail bed left to cover the bone so no graft was required.
God A&E was boring.
I have pics!
I hope your dad is ok op.

Years ago someone dared me to bend a fork, but young and stupid , I took the dare, somehow the fork didn t bend , but 2 of the tynes did slice through my finger to the bone ., weirdly it didn t bleed(stung like a mofo), I wrapped it in kitchen towel and compressed it, it healed and all I have to show for it is a couple of white lines on my finger.
I don’t try and bend forks anymore
