Anyone using this yet..?

Can't seem to find much on it (independent review wise), but it does seem like a pretty viable option otherwise...

SWERVE!!!

Skype have recently been acquired by eBay.

eBays long term plan is to voice spam Skype subscribers with advertising (unregulated you see)

Best off using an alternative, Vonage, GoogleTalk etc.

I bought one of those Internet phone connector jobbies at The Ideal Home Exhibition last year. Haven't got the right phone to plug it in yet, but the idea and theory sounds good. Must get my arse in gear and sort it.

I think Skype is getting floated soon, for some crazy figure.

Are all these handsets the same...? Or do they just do any VoIP..?

Oh, and weren't you going to mail me some SPV utilities..?

How you coping with MCE?

I'm with plotloss here, Skype was a great tool until ebay bought it. There is no way I'd consider using it anymore.

Nuts.

No joy following on from our conversation the other week. However, if you want another brochure

Are all VOIP handsets the same, yes and no, its complicated.

I would say you are best off with a softphone (if you have a bluetooth USB dongle you can use your mobile hands free as the headset) to start with moving into a hardphone if you get on with it.

VOIP - VOIP completely free
VOIP - PSTN you need to signup and credit your account
PSTN - VOIP same as outbound

So basically if you want to get onto or off the normal UK phone network there is a cost associated.

The alternative is a IAX trunk line but you need a PBX at your end for this, Asterisk. I've just put one in, its a fab bit of kit, a proper toy.

MCE is smart, its given me an idea actually, may lead to system building mayhem, onto wholesalers now, we'll see...

Arse, forgot about the SPV apps, they'll be with you soon as they are only small, got a gmail account as I think they may blow the hotmail limit.
