long 30mph limit leading up to road works (1 mile!)trying to keep to 30 but lonely road in middle of nowhere... speed crept up .... flash...then warning sign lights up SLOW DOWN 30.

Thanks fellas - mini gatso by side of road, van hidden behind trees

Fair cop, but how about warning first then get you if you ignore it. But then it might be about safety.

And the b****r of it is I never speed in roadworks! Well not until this time.....

I saw a similar story from one of our friendly BiB who post on here. A farse really. I am sure now you have been flashed you will become a better driver now though, and some lives will have been saved....?

Obviously not. But if the warning 30mph flashing sign was 100m further up the road you would have reduced your speed, thus technically doing its job. As I have said before, if people are being flashed, the system of slowing people down has failed.

The scamera partnerships hark on about how many people are increasingly flashed as a success! All it means that whatever systems they are using to warn motorists are failing...

So that means they may now be able to 'produce' figures to suggest that the flashing signs are useless because so many drivers speed when approaching them even though they are already in a limit. Which of course would ignore the reasons for needing a 1 mile long 30mph limit up to some roadworks anyway.

What a ruse! Dick Turpin would have been proud to create such a distraction.

Might is be worth a challenge on signage ? - often incorrect at roadworks it seems.

BTW - who is using the mini gatso's?
