Ocado - Flash Sales now Rubbish
Discussion
Ever since Ocado recently upgraded their website their flash sales have been rubbish.
Part of the fun of putting in the weekly shop with Ocado was getting some great flash sales before confirming the order. The equivalent of the little yellow stickers at the supermarket.
Historically they were reduced by 40% on some cracking products, I can’t remember not adding on at least 4-5 items to my weekly basket from the flash sales.
Recently they are only being reduced by 30%, but more noticeable is that the products are really left field obsure items that are already seriously marked up. I seem to remember last week they were offering 4 x organic chicken breasts for £15 after the 30% reduction. The whole flash sale had similarly priced items.
Obviously they are re-structuring their sales strategy and part of that the way they offload short dated / slow moving / promotional stuff, but I for one, being a savvy shopper (tight arse), may look elsewhere to shop.
Anyone else notice this change?

I usually ignore the flash sales. Things I don’t need at average prices. I feel like it is just a marketing gimmick to make you think you’re getting a ‘deal’.
The supermarket loyalty schemes in general are a bit crap, especially Waitrose.
You get vouchers for money off purchases, based on your spend.
The only issue is I’ll buy a 48 pack of dishwasher tabs, or a 750g butter that will take me months to get through. And then the week after i buy it, it will give me a 50p off voucher to purchase it again… no common sense on that.

Even better were the regular free gifts, in return for a review (not obligatory)One week Ocado gave us a bottle of very nice malt whisky
That’ seems to have stopped now as well

There is a lot of false pricing still. Waitrose very guilty of that one (25% off 6 wines, while the price has mysteriously jumped from prior weeks). The supermarket loyalty schemes in general are a bit crap, especially Waitrose.
Personally I would like the last 6 weeks pricing to be able to be looked up.

That’s the thing though, they were genuinely good deals, 40% off, on some really good products. Now they are not even as cheap as some similarly normal priced stuff.
