2014 Kia Sorento - AWD not working - advice please.
Discussion
Car - 2014 KX2 2.2 Manual. 92000Miles
Problem - AWD NOT working. Not cutting in automatically when stuck, nor when pressing the LOCK button. I know this as I keep getting stuck in a field (tow hay trailers and horses with it) It was working in November, but not since then.
Took it to a 4wd specialist as wanted an opinion before spending £££ on new coupling or KIA diagnostics.
Work done there -
Removed and cleaned 4x4 coupling / pump / motor. Refitted and refilled wiht new oil. Said there was barely any oil left in it and what there was looked old.
Checked earth and live were OK then tested the pump which runs wiht seperate live and earth
Fault codes:
P1831 Clutch Thermal Over Stress
P1832 Clutch Thermal Over Stress Shut Down
At stationary wheel speed are wrong - RR reading 1083mph - however reading correct when driving.

Work info from KIA - would imply that it needs new coupling
However - Mechanic reports that the rear wheel turned 1/2 turn when engaging "lock" prior to codes appearing, and also no shavings in the oil - so would lead me to believer that the weld inside the coupling is intact, and the splines OK?
Speaking to My KIA garage - they say that it will need a new coupling - never come accross the Speed sensor issue before.
Likely I simply need to replace the coupling, however my thoughts lead me to believe that the erroneous reading fromthe rear speed sensor is causing the thermal shutdown - so if I could fix this then it would work?
No ABS / ESP warnings / codes, so seems the sensor is intact.
Any one any experience of this and can offer some advice / words of wisdom before I bite the bullet and replace the coupler. Its booked in with Kia early Sept to have diagnostics, but likely I'll get the work done elsewhere.
I can source a coupler for £259 so not too bad, but don't want to replace it if I don't have to and if it wont actually fix the issue:
