Tried fitting a new slave cylinder today Mazda 3 2017

Attached the hydraulic line to the new one and saw it leaking from under where the clip connects ( red circle below )

Any ideas on what went wrong ?

When I opened the bleed nipple, it would stop leaking from there and then start leaking from the bleed nipple instead.

I just saw a YouTube video of someone fitting one on a Mazda 2, and his was the same - so he opens the bleed nipple and sits and waits for a while and says it's part of the process?

I thought something was wrong with it so I just put the old one back on and it didn't leak at all..

Was there definitely the correct seal in the new part? Could it be a seal left behind in the old slave that needs swapping into the new one?

Come to think of it, that is a possibility.
Thanks
