Sorry to hear about Terry,

In 1968, Jimmy Page wanted Terry to front his new group Led Zeppelin, Terry turned him down, but recommended a young unknown singer he knew called Robert Plant.

What might have been......

Underrated and held in high esteem amongst his fellow pros.

Robert Plant:-

"Terry Reid's enthusiasm and encouragement were incredible back then ... still teenagers we crashed each others' gigs and crucified Season of the Witch time and time again … So much fun. So on it. He was all of everything ... such charisma.

His voice, his range ... his songs capturing that carefree era ... Superlungs indeed. He catapulted me into an intense new world he chose to decline ... I listen now to his album The River and shed a tear for my brother in arms".

I think it was Jonny Walker put me onto Terry many years ago. I’ve got Fifth of July on a 12 inch vinyl, lovely song, I play it every few weeks. I’ve got a cd somewhere in my collection, good excuse for a sort out.

When you read about his bad luck, it's pretty darned relentless.

When you watch things like this it's hard to believe he didn't conquer whatever he wanted to conquer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN0ygSc8yBQ&li...

Only just read this, extremely under rated, rarely played on radio.
First heard him on a Peel prog, early days R1, Sunday(?) afternoon.
