Audi SQ7 - any reviews experience?
Discussion
Hi all, considering getting an SQ7 TFSI, probably 6-12months old.
Does anybody have any real life experience of this car. Just wondering about reliability, build quality and of course how they drive. Will arrange a test drive but haven’t done so yet.
Also I notice that there is an option for a 5 year warranty - is this only available if spaced at purchase?
My reference is an L405 Range Rover 4.4 diesel which is just starting to get a little tired at 9 years old and not sure I feel a new Range Rover justifies the price along with tales of reliability issues I have heard about them. However are the SQ7’s just as problematic?
Lastly is there a noticeable difference between the Black edition and Vorsprung edition?
Thanks in advance

BIL has a new one, I haven't driven it personally but been in it plenty. Sure an owner will be along shortly to tell you about the driving side.
Lovely place to be inside, makes a great noise and goes like stink (quite unbelievably given its size IMO). I think a lot opt for this over competitors due to the 7 seat option.
Audi Warranty can be retrospectively, even if bought private/not a main dealer. 'Audi All-In' is a good package I have with my car. MOT, servicing and warranty for circa £700 for 2 years worth. Your price may be diff (I have an A5 but sure the same package is available for the SQ7).
ETA: The only difference between Black Edition and Vorsprung will be options, will have no bearing on engine or performance.

Missed this thread earlier.
My SQ7 is 8 years old now, hasn't missed a beat. It does have the diesel engine, don't know about the TFSI other than it'll be a lot heaver on fuel (my long term consumption is now 37mpg).
I bought the 5 year warranty from new, though haven't had to use it. I plan on keeping this car for a long time, it's a really good workhorse for shifting the family or large loads around.

I had the diesel one from new in 2018 and was honestly fantastic it even sounded and not just for a diesel. Only issue I had in nearly 4 years of ownership was after 6 months the brakes developed a terrible squeal under slow braking, took it back to Audi they said it was handbrake sticking but not sure that's true as they replaced all 4 discs and pads FOC. I would have bought another one if I could but it was mid way through COVID and no guarantee of delivery date and then the change from diesel to petrol.... Got a SVR instead.
I've seen a video and it sounds a bit like my old SQ5 from the exhaust end on the video. Not sure if it's different in real life because the nearest one to me is over an hours drive away.
I heard a petrol one at the weekend though. Was due to test drive it but it sold just before we got there. Sounded lovely.

I have had my SQ7 for a few months so can bullet point my experience:
- it does make a nice sound but not loud. Spits a little on cold start but calms down after that. I would like it a bit more audible but not enough to change anything
- it drives very smoothly, very nice place to be and is very quick for its size, I don’t think I need anything quicker
- it has untold number of driver aids, too much for me so have turned it all off - some I feel are dangerous but have had the car brake for me on a couple of occasions for no apparent reason. Lane guidance warning and assistance also a pain and that has to be turned off each time you start a journey - slightly annoying
- plugged my Carly in just to run a diagnostics, after 2 weeks of ownership. Came up with 15 errors - all communication errors. Cleared them all and periodically they come back. They don’t provide error on dash but something clearly going on - guess I’ll wait till first service, unless something gets worse.
Overall it’s a very nice car, my first Audi, very pleased with it. Having had a few Range Rovers in past I would like to it to the Sport rather than the FF.
Hope that helps
(Oh and fuel economy is not great ! I average about 17/18 mpg and I’m not really pushing it hard !! )
