Holidaying in crete

Does anyone on here know if it would.be advisable to take euros to Crete, we went to kefalonia last summer and most bars and restaurants preferred cash. For the first time ever we didn’t take any cash and it didn’t stop us getting served anywhere but most places seemed to prefer cash

Yep places prefer cash but it’s against the law not to take cards in most establishments.

We tend to take cash and use a card for the odd trip or car hire but everywhere also takes cards.

They love a black economy. Useful to have some € but cards are taken.

Yes, definitely take cash euros for Crete (can only really speak for Chania and western Crete but I expect it's the same everywhere). Amazing how many of the card machines are 'broken'.
