Contemplating a change car owning strategy and moving to two cars from my GR86.

This means I'll be needing a comfortable, practical and characterful daily with a budget for £10-15k.

My commute is 25 miles ea. way on mainly steady A-roads with questionable surfaces and traffic that flows at a steady 50mph.

I'm not after a barge but I need something that is engaging enough to drive, a driving position that I can stretch my legs out and is mainly free from the irritations that can remove any pleasure from owning a car.

I like the idea and look of a Mini Countryman which I feel would give a sense of ownership satisfaction.

Over to you lot!

If you have a driveway and can charge from home a used Tesla Model 3 is as close to the perfect daily driver as you can get.

Facts it’s very fast and handles like a hot hatch is just a bonus.

Worth a test drive.

Charging in town and at work is decent but I've no driveway so I'd rather stay away from electric. That said, Mrs F's company car is electric but her charging at work is more convenient than mine.

Totally get that.

Alternative to the Countryman is the Ford Puma but auto options aren’t as good as the Mini.

Left field suggestion VW Aerteon’s are good price at the moment.

Going from a GR86 to a Mini Countryman is certainly a different type of car, how about something in between, e.g. Octavia VRS / Golf GTi etc

You're absolutely right but it would be part of a 2 car garage.

Modern hot hatches are fantastic but having ran several over the last few years, they will ultimately leaving me wanting something just a little more which the last time was the GR86...
