First Time Attending Hungarian GP 2026
Discussion
Hello All,
After attending the F1 at Silverstone multiple times with GA seats uncovered and covered grandstand seats, always camping at Whittlebury. The time has come to attend one of the European races next year.
We have selected the Hungarian GP as it fits well with all our calendars and is reasonably close to a large city so there is more to do than just the F1
Plan is a package deal with flights hotel and general admission tickets.
Has anyone else been before and does anyone have any reccomendations
The hang ups at the moment are travelling from the city to the circuit and where abouts in the city to stay

Can't comment on the GrandPrix but Budapest has pretty excellent public transport all round the centre. I would stay somewhere in District 7, there's loads of bars and eateries to enjoy.
Alternatively theres nice places down by the river, we stayed close to the central market hall and found some nice bars and restaurants nearby.

We have just got back. We stayed at the Museum Hotel near Astoria metro station. The H2 takes you out of town, then you jump on an old rickety train H8 out towards the track where you can get a shuttle bus.
At the end of the day the queue was enormous, so we walked to the station. Again a big queue.
Budapest is a fab place to visit, and besides the couple of hours it takes to get the track it works really well. If you think about Silverstone, there isn't any public transport, so Budapest works pretty well.

Absolutely, my son has just moved to District 7, we are already planning to go to the GP next year.Alternatively theres nice places down by the river, we stayed close to the central market hall and found some nice bars and restaurants nearby.
Was there two years ago. Drove to circuit Friday which was all fine, however it was clear that exiting the car park would be a nightmare on the busier Saturday/Sunday
Decided to get the tram and train on Saturday. Tram was ok but the queue at the train station (terminus) was mad, with one person selling tickets. Finally got tickets and crossed via underpass to platforms which were rammed with a full train sat in the platform. Nobody seemed to have a clue what was going on but no train left for 20 mins and platforms got more crowded. Was also raining so gave up, got back on tram and watched Saturdays track action from a bar in the city.
Booked a 730am taxi on the Sunday which worked brilliantly…simple and quite cheap, definitely worth it
Hotel has told us of very long queues for taxis getting away from the circuit so booked helicopter (made booking on the Saturday afternoon) to get out, if you can stretch to it then do it. They depart from a grass area right next to circuit and it’s a Quick ride to a landing pad on bank of river, with a waiting taxi to take us to hotel. We were back so quick the hotel staff asked why we had not stayed until the end of the race !!
Obviously cheaper ways to get out but in my old age my tolerance for queuing has waned, so money well spent
