Why upgrade to a 3R when you've already bought a 2.5? If it's the power upgrade your after then you should keep the 2.5 and let Mr Faulks wave his magic wand over the car. My 2.5 is pushing over 350bhp which is the same as the 3R and the 2.5 is the lighter car.
Not the only difference I know before I get flamed....

Great choice in colour Colin
, the upgrade is a remap and some changes from mechanical to electronic "bits".
I dont think it adversley effects the drivability of the car. several people on here have had it done, joust, obes etc. Sure justin will pop along in a while and explain better.

Hi Colin and Welcome.
The full power upgrade we offer consists of BOV, Intercooler Upgrade, Remap and Electronic Boost Control which results in a power output of 350bhp. We also offer an upgrade consisting of Remap and Electronic boost control but due to issues with charge air temperature exceeding what we deem acceptable limits this only yields a 25bhp increase over standard in a 25 degree ambient, a lower ambient temperature will yield more power.
Obes is running our Intercooler and BOV (amongst other things) but his car is fitted with an Omex ECU, Jousts 2.5 litre was running the factory upgrade which differs from ours in several ways (it utilises the standard intercooler and boost curve mapping is more agressive amongst others)
Reliability is not affected. Our (road) upgrade actually runs less boost than the factory upgrade and the use of our IC upgrade means charge air temperatures are around 20 degrees cooler than standard), also due to the way the upgrade operates the torque curve is smoother without the sudden spike in which leads to a reduction in rapid torque loading on transmission components.
Best Regards

Welcome to the fold !
I've had a 2.5L for over 4 years now and I have just had another 2.5L engine fitted (rather than upgrade to the 3.0L).
I think you'll find that the 2.5L is more than enough in most situations !
Happy motoring, and don;t forget the noble owners day in October.

What number chassis is yours. Obes is number 8 ,mines 12 so I guess yours must be an early one. Why did you need a new engine? How many miles had the old one done? I have 28k on the clock at the moment and everything seems fine but if I'm gonna need a new power plant soon I'd better start saving up
