My old 3200 GT is back on the road
Discussion
Had a phone call a week or two back from a bloke who's bought my old written off 3200.
He's got it back on the road and wanted the service history.
He said the most expensive part was the bonnet @ £4k.
I can't see the benefit - surely by the time he's bought the written off car, the bonnet, the wings, the headlights and grill, radiator, seat belts, two new front tyres, both front wheels, knocked out the dent in the back, etc, etc, he must have spent a fortune?
Or are written off cars extremely cheap to buy at auction?

Hey Paul... ask him how much he paid for it ?
If the chap has had the car repaired by an authorised company then hopefully it should be ok but on the other hand its all down to how much was paid at auction and the level of workmanship combined with the costs as to whether this is a good deal for him.
If the repair job is below par then ...well...what can you say !
How do you feel knowing the car is back on the road after insurance paid out on it ?
Also ..Did you ever think it would be back on the road ?

Id offer him the history (if you have it) but you`ll need a couple of hundred quid to cover your time to pack and post it.... Must be worth at least double that to him come resale time.
I thought a lot of the damaged repairables tended to be bought by people who own bodyshops / have access to those with the required skills to repair, i.e. not Joe Bloggs who will take a damaged car to a bodyshop and just say "fix this".
