Could someone please enlighten me to the latest gas regulations please. My 85 year-old mother ordered a new electric oven from Currys, paid more than the oven cost for the delivery and fitting. They took the old one out and said they can't fit the new one because of the gas pipe to the hob above.
This was a week ago and they said they'd come back last week and haven't, so she has been without an oven for a fortnight and they can't come again until 23rd August!
Here is what is behind the oven - which has been in situ since she bought the house 20 years ago. Is there an issue with just sticking the oven in and cabling it up?

Unless the manufacturer states otherwise there are no regulations about the size of the gap between the oven and the pipework. Makes sense for them not to be touching because of vibration from the oven fan etc.
It may just be that the oven is too deep for the space with the hob supply pipe in situ. It would be worth clarifying with Currys exactly what they mean by "they can't fit the new one because of the gas pipe to the hob above".
