Hi All,

2010 DBS owner with a chipped glass key here - surprise surprise.

Question to other owners from this era... is your glass key also chipped? Have you ever replaced it? And if so how from where/much did you pay?

Thank you!!

I dropped mine and it broke the corner off it, I had my AM dealer replace it which was around the £1100 for the new key and them to program it.

I did debate not replacing it and just use the valet key, but I figured if I ever came to sell the car, the prospective owner would want the glass key and I didnt want to use my broken one in case it got stuck in the dash

As you can see ( possibly ) it did break a big chunk off of the corner when I dropped it.

edit to add car is a 2010 V8 Vantage

Yikes! And was the replacement the glass one, or the later acrylic/polycarbonate topped key?

If you do an internet search for AM glass key repair you will find several repair options at lower cost than main dealer, still pricey but gives you a choice.

Could you not buy a used one from eBay and replace the internals?

myself i snet my key twice for repair, lately i changed the cristaol too i think i paid 400e for the cristal, i had update or polish the black structure, and have the screw redone too, since 2-3 years i dropped the key once when in the leather pounch, i lately bought a new pounch if i show you a picture i m gonna to trigger you, the key is outstanding... i bought like 3 screw driver to be able to change the battery, and i must do it a day i feel good cause it s like a jewelry job.
in reality i dont use the new pounch yet just for pictures. lol but true. have it fixed asap cause the buyer will argue real hard otherwise and let you down.

everytime i took the key off i have the piunch ready in the other hand, its the only way not to drop it. i dont let the key 2 sec without a pounch you see? dont walk away with the key oustide a punch in your hand, always put it inside asap, 2 sec after removing the key. if you do this you wont break it anymoire.

a video was done so i show it to you, i seems not caring for the key holding the camera, but the leather protected it, so you can see the cristal updated.

if you have a new cristal the buyer may prefer your car as a 3-5-k less miles ones, you maybe more prioritary, will show you another image i shoot with the aml magazine at that time with a db4? on cover.
sorry i could not turn on my old phone were the images are stored, but redoing the key is something i will never regret to have it done.

Probably because they are Chinese copies.

When I dropped mine and broke it, I got a new one from Astonbits. It was £630.

And do you use it? Or did you tuck it away and go over to the valet keys 😂

I have two glass keys both perfect plus the plastic thing. I use a glass key.
The trick is to buy a pouch if you don’t have one.
Then just follow the golden rule. The key does not enter or leave the car without being in its pouch. Bonus points that the pouch looks rather nice.
