Griff Bushes Update

Update...

The new bushes are now fitted on the front. One problem we've noticed has been the temperature the the upper wishbone rear bush is exposed to being next to the exhaust. We have a solution to this problem and will be running the car overnight to test. The bushes will be removed again in the morning for a final check.

I'll be back tomorrow with our results and availablity.

Update...

We have now solved the heating problem at the front and one set of the front bushes will now come with a heat sheild and instructions on where it fits. The ride of the Grif is now really nice and the glacier bearings work well.

The rears are a mirror image of the fronts (without the heat problem) except for the smaller bush.

The new tooling will be finished this week and parts will ready for dispatch the following week. I have some pics of the new bits if someone can host them for me - send an email to [e-mail].

Sorry it's taken so long chaps, but we're now confident it's been worth it.

Thats great news Tim, do the new bushes just slide into the wishbone or do they require to be pressed in?

The new bushes will just slide in with a bit of effort. We didnt remove the wishbones from the car.

Road Test Dummy Report:

Since the fitting of the alternative type bushes three weeks ago by Tim @ Powerflex, I have continued to use the Griff daily. My regular inspections & checks, confirm my own confidence that the front bushes will not break down. Some slight engine vibration can be felt through the steering wheel when stationary, however I fully exspected this due to the thougher bush material. The handling is much better than I expected, & the steering more precise & responsive. Thanks go to Tim for his persistance for excellence, & to Bugsy for ensuring the situation was resolved

Now where did I put those 5 Stud hub converters & brakes ?

They look a good design however I thought there was a heatshield needed? Any pics of this?

The heat shield is a piece of heat mat, that sits over the bush, and fixes to the upper frame tube.

I am just in the process of fitting mine to the rear now.....................

What's the difference between these and the poly bushes that have been available previously? I think the one in mine are yellow if that helps.

I believe the main difference is the glacier fitted in the bush itself, this allows the bush to actually turn like a bearing on the main steel insert, instead of being shear like the original bushes.
Apparently its quite similar to a rose joint, without the harshness.
