Asking for a friend but how much wiggle room is there on the seemingly large supply of pre reg giulia veloce out there?
Am example being this one https://www.motorvogue.co.uk/used-cars/19237361-al...

Whilst it has a lot off new list I still think it's expensive. Alfa aren't known for residuals bar the quad.

Best thing to do is compare prices on Autotrader for similar pre reg models around the country and then see if someone local will match it.

With pre reg cars it is normally a race to the bottom with pricing which leaves very little room for negotiations as most dealers have already taken everything out of the price to be cheapest on Autotrader.

Thanks for that. I've passed the other 2 along and he likes the blue but it's missing the HK sound.
He's going to try a cheeky offer of 36 to 37 on the grey one on Saturday - worst they can say is no i guess. Else he'll wait till towards end of month (is that still a thing for month end sales?)

HK would be a good option to get if he can. I loved it on my BMW.

Hard to know if end of month is still a thing. In theory, yes possibly. Personally i just go and attempt to hammer out a deal!

You can tell from the AT URL how long a car has been advertised - both those ones i linked to have only been advertised for about 10 days.

Dealers tend not to want to move too much on price until 1+ month out, maybe longer.

I was looking at one of these during Covid and had my eye on a versuvio grey with red leather at £38k back then.

Very tempted but I've just sold my Alpine to release needed cash and shouldn't be sinking it into another car biggrin

I quickly read the title as 'pre reg AFFAIRS'. Wrong forum!

Tell your friend to go for an older car.

Same budget gets you a 6 year old Quadrifoglio wink

This is exactly what I would do (despite it will be missing that new car smell).

There was a thread on air fresheners pop up yesterday, problem solved. Get the Quad and an air freshener. smile

But then you could argue that about any new car really.

New 320i or a six year old M3....

Theres a market for new cars and advantages to going for one.

For many out there - outside of car enthusiast forums - they're happy with the new car.

If there's one brand where'd I'd absolutely want a car that's new and under warranty, its Land Rover Alfa

Spot on and something I've been mentioning to him. Though from what I understand the giulia is reliable but delicate in terms of build?

Ah yes, the internet has lots to answer for.

I've had an Alfa before for several years. It was fine.

I own another car that the internet would have you believe breaks down every week. Also fine.

I owned a few in the past - A 147 Ti, a 156 2.5 V6 Veloce and a 156 facelift model 2.0 Veloce.

Decent cars, but the issue for me is that there are few good indies about to look after them - well, certainly where i live. Nearest one to me is an 80 mile return trip. I dont think they're particularly unreliable.

Land Rovers.... sister bought a used 3.0TD Discovery six weeks ago. Its off the road currently with a brake caliper thats pumping out brake fluid. New caliper from LR is £520. And so it begins....

I'm lucky with that - I'm close to AHM who are very well regarded, particularly for the Quads.

Yeah thats brilliant!

I live about a mile from a highly regarded BMW / Mercedes specialist, so we tend to stick to that sphere, rightly or wrongly. Mercedes and BMW main dealers both about 8 miles away.

I'd a Volvo T5 a while ago, nearest Volvo man was 20 miles away. Nearest main dealer was 40 miles away. Just became a ball ache when something went wrong. At one point it was off the road for a fortnight just because of the logistics of getting the car to him, getting it diagnosed, getting the part and getting the car back.
