On the way to the Hilton and Moss open day the car lost power on a roundabout slid to a halt and burst into flames. Sad day. I had washed it and everything.

Was this very recently? I hope your insurance had an 'agreed value.' frown

I've had TVRs on market value only a couple of times with 'normal' insurance but perhaps shouldn't have. Both the rear rubber pipes on my Griff were badly cracked, discovered on last week's service. Not noticed at MoT elsewhere earlier in the year.

haven't check insurance yet, The car was mechanically excellent, having had a complete chassis refurb a few years ago, all the suspension was sorted brand new hood last year.

So sorry to read this. Did you manage to put it out? Anything salvageable?

front end completely destroyed sadly. Funnily enough, I had left the lid at home, so I have an S series roof with brand new black cover if anyone needs it - oh and a spare wheel!

So sorry to hear this, absolutely devastating!

I know it's easy to say, but as long as no one was hurt, you can always get another car.

I hope it wasn't very recent, I mentioned my MoT because it appears that it expired on that car on 8th August. frown Insurance may be affected. The amount paid, that is. I'm sure someone would say it was invalid, but I doubt that's the case.

Heartbroken for you. My first TVR was an S2. Still have fond memories.

Is it completely gone, or could it be a very long term recovery? I hope the later. It's one of the appealing things about TVR's is that they are so modular that they can almost always be recovered. Fiberglass re-molded, chassis re-welded etc. - if you have the will power and time.

Whatever - let it be a warning to all to check those fuel hoses. Mine will be done this winter, for sure.

Commiserations. weeping

Sorry to see that, but glad you’re ok, don’t you have to have an official period of mourning first?

Thanks everyone. I spoke to the insurance company this morning and started the process. The car is too far gone for me to sort I am afraid, but I am told it will end up at Copart eventually.

The wheels were in good shape and it had a brand new hood, but since everything in front of the windscreen is crispy and black there isn’t much left. I guess the interior wasn’t bad. Sadly the front indicators were buggered. The annoying thing is that the chassis and suspension had all been done by a previous owner, with loads of photos. Maybe the chassis could be recovered and reused.
I have a few spares in the garage too, including an airflow meter that I think works and a rear indicator cluster.
Sing out if you would like them.

Does your insurance give you an option to retain the salvage?

If you let it go it will more than likely end up here https://tvrspares.co.uk/

Automatic fire extinguishers are really cheap now, people with valuable cars, monetarily or sentimentally, should consider fitting them under the bonnet.
