Hi all,

newbie to the forums so please bear with me!

I have a bmw 118i m sport auto.

was a lease car brand new and had for 3 years paying the lease monthly. decided to pay the balloon payment at the end as i had looked after it.

It has full BMW service history and dont want to lose this status.

It is now due a service again, BMW main dealers are considerably more expensive than others. If i take it to a BMW specialist (listed on here) will that still be classed as full bmw service history when i decide to sell the car in the future? Even though they can update idrive etc...

Please let me know your thoughts and advice here...

Thanks

In my mind, if you continue to get it serviced on time and with the correct requirements it'll be a full Service History . But it will only be a full BMW Service history if you get it serviced at a BMW main dealer.

A specialist will probably have the tools required to update your idrive, but often the service will have 0000 alongside it rather than the unique number that identifies a BMW Service Workshop.

Then that 0000 service may not get replicated to BMW and if your BMW does end up in a BMW Workshop again those 0000 ones may get deleted. I think. Its a topic that comes up often so there might be some older threads or those with more knowledge will be along soon!

I'm pretty sure the 0000 services are written to the BMW system as the independent garage pays for that very functionality. BMW rang me this year and knew about the previous indie service.

I would say that if it’s not serviced at a main dealer it won’t be a BMW full service history just a full service history using OEM parts. The devils in the detail.

Getting it done at an independent using OEM parts would be ok for claming on a BMW warranty if you have one.

One of mine went in to my local BMW specialist last week. It does come back with 00000, they update on the BMW network and it shows as BMW next to it on the idrive. My BMW app knows it's been completed, as that is no longer showing it requires a service.

Personally I see them as the same, actually my specialist is much better. More important, is keeping all your receipts/invoices, the screen doesn't show what work has been completed, and GDPR rules limit what they can print off.
