Anyone got any good pricing for the Netgear DG834GT Wireless ADSL router and the WG111T USB adapter?

Found it at PC world online for £64.99, but htey are out of stock. Everyone else seems to end up around £90.

if you can point me to a cheapie

Edited to add

Or the straight G variant.

54 or 108 Mb will do fine for what I need.

Yes a good price from PC World for the DG834GT without the WG111T.

Where have you seen the DG834T with WG111T for £64.99?

I guess you could try Overclockers for the DG834GT priced at £64.04 inc. VAT.

However, OC charge £38.77 inc vat for the WG111T (less than PC World do). So, you might try Tekheads who have the WG111T for £32.90 inc vat.

I don't want to throw a spanner in the works at all ....

I had the older 824 model, which worked a treat for years until last week where it curled up and died.

So had to get a new one - so I figured on the 834GT .... no brainer.

I was all ready to buy one when I casually mentioned it in passing to a [trusted] work colleague who mentioned that there were loads of people having grief with them - and to check the Netgear discussion forum.

So I did, and I have to personally confess I'm glad I did - judging by all the problems that the folks there are posting.

So, I decided against it and went for the new Voyager 2110.

Now I know as well as anyone that it's usually only negative stuff that ever posted on those types of forums - but just bear it in mind.

I'm sure there's hundreds/thousands of happy 834 owners - but I personally was not willing to take the risk.

Just a heads-up. No more.

And for the record the old 824 worked a treat and never gave me any grief in it's lifetime.

Another thumbs down, I am afraid. Had a 834GT, worked for two weeks, then fell over and died. Would not detect the ADSL line.

Tech support was c**p, and out sourced. They kept trying to talk me into paying them and extra $48 to get it advance returned.

Not a happy punter, although as someone said, I am sure there is loads of happy users out there, it's just that I am not one of them!

(Althought the replacement has been shipped, so they tell me!)

Just to back up what Kinky and Fer found.

I had an original DG834G (the grey/silver one) which worked faultlessly for about eighteen months, and then died. Because it hadn't given any problems, I replaced it with the same model, except it's now a new white one, a bit smaller, a bit cheaper, called the V2.

It worked perfectly for about two weeks (long enough to throw away the box) and then the wireless started dropping all the time. Looking at the forums, this seems not to be uncommon.

I've since replaced it with a Belkin, which so far is going fine.
